Genshin Impact 7.2 Free 4-Star Selector: Aino, Alyosha or Amber?

Choose your free Genshin Impact 7.2 4-star by team needs, Constellations and collection value. Compare Aino, Alyosha, Amber and the other eligible characters.

·Genshin Impact Guides Hub

Genshin Impact 7.2 offers a free 4-star character invitation through The Grand Defense: Defy the Unjust Judgment. The eight options are Amber, Xiangling, Thoma, Collei, Lynette, Kachina, Aino and Alyosha. For most players choosing around team performance, Aino and Alyosha deserve the first look. For collectors, Amber can be the more appealing choice.

The event is available throughout Version 7.2. Take part in relief operations and reduce the Holy Soil threat to the required level to invite one character. It unlocks as you progress through the Version 7.2 Archon Quest, with a Quick Start option also available on the event page.

The best choice depends on what your account is missing: a Hydro or Electro support, a useful Constellation, a new character for your collection, or an option that is otherwise difficult to obtain. Here is how to weigh those four priorities.

Choose for Team Strength: Aino or Alyosha

Aino: A Hydro Option for Lunar Teams

Aino is worth considering if your Lunar teams need another off-field Hydro character. She can provide area Hydro application at C0, so you do not need to wait for several Constellations before using her. However, her practical value still depends on the team's Hydro requirements and whether enemies stay within reach of her attacks.

C2 adds coordinated Hydro attacks while Aino is off-field and her Burst is active. These additional hits target the opponent attacked by your active character. C4 improves her energy recovery when her Skill hits, making it easier to sustain her Burst across rotations. This can ease her Energy Recharge requirements in modes such as Stygian Onslaught.

C1 adds Elemental Mastery support, while C6 strengthens the reactions covered by its effect. Both offer additional buffs, but neither is required to begin using her. If you are choosing a duplicate, check which milestone that single copy will actually unlock.

Favor Aino when two Lunar teams compete for Columbina and one of them still needs a workable Hydro option. If your Hydro slots are already covered, an Aino Constellation is less urgent than a character who fills another missing role.

Alyosha: Off-Field Electro for Stellar-Conduct

Alyosha is a practical pick for a Stellar-Conduct team that lacks off-field Electro. At C0, he already provides Electro application and team support. His Constellations improve consistency and utility, so both a first copy and a useful duplicate can have value.

C1 helps his energy recovery, C2 improves Burst uptime, and C4 adds healing through his companion. C6 further strengthens his team support and is an attractive endpoint for players who regularly use him in Stellar-Conduct teams.

Favor Alyosha if you are building Stellar-Conduct, lack Yae Miko or another suitable off-field Electro option, and do not plan to pull Mitya for that role. If you already have an effective Electro support, compare the next Alyosha Constellation with what an Aino copy would add to your other team.

When the Other Characters Make Sense

The remaining choices can still fill specific roster gaps, especially for Imaginarium Theater:

  • Xiangling: an off-field Pyro damage dealer whose C4 extends her Burst duration. If this invitation gets her to C4 and you use her regularly, it can be a meaningful upgrade.

  • Collei: a Dendro application option for accounts short on Dendro characters.

  • Lynette: her Burst's taunt can help in defense objectives, including protecting a monolith.

  • Thoma: offers a Pyro shield for teams that can maintain it through Normal Attacks.

  • Kachina: worth considering for newer players who prioritize exploration in Natlan.

For a new account, filling an empty role can be more useful than adding a small upgrade to a character you rarely play.

Choose for Your Character Collection

If completing your roster matters more than combat strength, choose a character you do not own. Thoma is a straightforward collection pick if he is still missing, but any unowned option can make sense.

Several eligible characters have been available through free story, exploration or event rewards. Those rewards have different conditions and availability, so check which free copies your account can still claim before using the invitation. If your goal is a full C6 collection, choose a character who is not already maxed out.

Choose for Rarity: Why Amber Stands Out

Amber is a special case because her Constellations are harder to target. She is obtainable through the standard Wish pool, but she does not receive the usual featured 4-star rate-ups on Character Event Wishes. Her copies in Paimon's Bargains are part of a rotation, rather than being available every month.

That makes this invitation a useful opportunity for Amber fans and players working toward C6. She may not solve the same team-building problem as Aino or Alyosha, but a guaranteed Amber copy can be more valuable to a collector than another copy of a frequently featured character.

Choosing an Already-C6 Character for Starglitter

If none of the available characters or Constellations interests you, inviting a 4-star you already have at C6 converts the duplicate into 5 Masterless Starglitter. That is enough to exchange for one Intertwined Fate in Paimon's Bargains.

This is a fallback when the selector offers no useful roster upgrade. If one copy completes a valuable Constellation or unlocks a missing character you want, compare that lasting benefit with a single additional Wish before deciding.

Which Free 4-Star Should You Choose?

Choose Aino for a Lunar team's Hydro gap, or Alyosha for a Stellar-Conduct team's Electro gap. If those roles are covered, look at specific upgrades such as Xiangling's C4, a missing character, or Amber's harder-to-obtain Constellations. The C6-to-Starglitter option is there for accounts with nothing more useful to claim.

If you are also planning limited-banner pulls, settle this free character choice first and review your saved Wishes before considering a Genshin Impact top-up.
