Genshin Impact 7.2 Mitya Preview: Is the Electro DPS Worth Pulling?

·Genshin Impact Guides Hub

Mitya arrives in the first half of Genshin Impact 7.2 after the November 4 update. The new limited 5-star Electro character can take the field as a damage dealer or provide Electro damage from off-field, but his early appeal leans toward the on-field role.

For players who already use Yae Miko or a C6 Alyosha, that flexibility alone may not justify pulling him. The more interesting question is whether Mitya can fill a missing on-field role in a Stellar-Conduct team. Here is how his kit and team options shape that decision before release.

Mitya's Role: An Electro DPS With Two Modes

Mitya is an Electro Catalyst user whose Elemental Skill switches between on-field and off-field modes. Another defining feature is a larger, mobile Polestar Field, allowing the field to follow the character rather than remain fixed in one place.

He overlaps with Yae Miko in offering both off-field Electro application and some team support. The difference is emphasis: Yae Miko generally favors off-field damage, while Mitya places more of his value in his on-field attacks.

Early estimates put C0 Mitya's off-field performance around C6 Alyosha and below C1 Yae Miko. As an on-field carry, his team damage is expected to be broadly comparable to Sandrone and Vesna teams at similar investment. These are pre-release comparisons; practical rotations and final performance still need testing after launch.

That makes him more interesting for an account missing a Stellar-Conduct carry than for one simply looking to replace an already effective off-field Electro character.

Mitya's Skills: Tap, Hold and Gradient Beacons

Elemental Skill: Choose His Damage Role

His Elemental Skill is the center of his kit. Tapping summons a Detection Core for periodic off-field Electro damage. His associated talent also provides Elemental Mastery support based on his accumulated Beacons.

Holding the Skill prepares his on-field mode. Triggering Stellar-Conduct reactions allows him to accumulate Gradient Beacons, with a maximum of four. His special Charged Attack consumes these Beacons: holding the attack longer consumes more Beacons and produces more instances of damage. This special attack deals damage classified as Elemental Burst DMG.

In off-field mode, reaching the Beacon limit allows excess Beacons to be consumed automatically for additional damage. For on-field play, the aim is to accumulate Beacons and spend them through his special Charged Attacks.

Elemental Burst: Damage and Faster Beacon Setup

Mitya's Elemental Burst deals Electro damage over a wide area and rapidly grants three Gradient Beacons, speeding up accumulation toward his four-Beacon carrying limit.

The Burst helps both roles: it accelerates Beacon accumulation for off-field damage and prepares another special Charged Attack during on-field play. Energy Recharge therefore affects how consistently he can repeat this sequence alongside the Beacons generated through his Skill and reactions.

Because so much of his kit revolves around Stellar-Conduct, the team recommendations below focus on that reaction.

Mitya Team Recommendations

1. Mitya as the On-Field Carry

Mitya + Odette + Valeriy / Alyosha / Yae Miko + Sucrose / Xilonen / Qiqi / Diona

This team keeps Mitya on-field to deal damage through special Charged Attacks. The other three slots provide elemental application, buffs and enough survivability to support his attack sequence.

Odette is the preferred Cryo partner in this setup. The second Electro slot can go to Valeriy, Alyosha or Yae Miko. C6 Valeriy is an appealing choice because he combines offensive support with survivability.

Sucrose is a strong fourth-slot option for her Elemental Mastery sharing and resistance reduction. Xilonen is another option for reducing Cryo and Electro resistance while providing healing. Qiqi or Diona can fill the slot when additional Cryo application and survival support are more useful.

Choose the fourth member around the whole team: using Sucrose makes more sense when another teammate already covers survivability.

2. Mitya Behind Sandrone or Wriothesley

Sandrone / Wriothesley + Mitya + Odette + Xilonen / Qiqi / Diona / Alyosha

Here, Mitya plays off-field while the Cryo carry takes the field. He competes for the Electro slot usually occupied by Yae Miko or Alyosha.

This is a harder role in which to justify pulling him at C0. A player with C1 Yae Miko or C6 Alyosha already has a strong alternative, and the early comparison does not suggest a clear upgrade from replacing them.

The final slot should cover the team's remaining support and survival needs. Xilonen, Qiqi and Diona are options; Alyosha is another possibility if his contribution fits the setup.

3. Mitya in a Cyno Team

Cyno + Odette + Mitya + Xilonen / Qiqi / Diona

Mitya again takes the off-field Electro slot, replacing Yae Miko while Cyno stays on-field. The fourth-slot choices remain broadly similar.

Compared with a Sandrone or Wriothesley lineup, the second Electro character enables Electro Resonance and can ease energy requirements. The important comparison is still whether Mitya improves the existing team's damage and rotation enough to justify adding him.

Is Mitya Worth Pulling in Genshin Impact 7.2?

Mitya can fill either damage role, but his stronger pull case is as an on-field carry. His flexible Skill and mobile field give him a distinct playstyle; they do not automatically make him the best off-field Electro option.

If you already have C1 Yae Miko or C6 Alyosha for an off-field slot, continuing with them is reasonable. C0 Mitya currently faces strong competition there, so there is little reason to pull him solely as a replacement before seeing his live performance.

If you lack an on-field Stellar-Conduct damage dealer and want to build around Odette, Mitya is worth watching. Try his rotation after release and compare his actual performance with your available alternatives before committing. If you are planning a Genshin Impact top-up for his banner, first decide which team role you need him to fill.
