Genshin Impact Traveler Element Tier List: All Seven Elements Ranked From Worst to Best in Version 7.0
With Snezhnaya finally open, the Traveler can now resonate with all seven elements in Genshin Impact: Anemo, Geo, Electro, Dendro, Hydro, Pyro, and Cryo. However, these elemental forms differ greatly in damage, support value, team flexibility, exploration utility, and endgame performance. This Version 7.0 tier list ranks every Traveler element from weakest to strongest and explains which form is worth building.

After reaching Snezhnaya, the Traveler can finally resonate with Cryo, completing the full collection of seven elemental forms.
Although every form belongs to the same character, their combat value varies dramatically. Some versions of the Traveler are useful only for exploration or early-game progression, while others can function as legitimate supports, off-field damage dealers, or even core members of modern reaction teams.
This ranking evaluates all seven Traveler elements according to four main factors:
Personal damage
Support and reaction value
Team flexibility
Practical usefulness in exploration and endgame content
The ranking reflects the Version 7.0 environment rather than each form’s historical importance. A Traveler element that was excellent when its region first launched may rank lower today because more specialized characters have become available.
Players preparing new teams for Version 7.0 can visit Topuplist or use the Genshin Impact top-up page when they need Genesis Crystals for upcoming banners.
Quick Traveler Element Ranking
Rank | Traveler element | Primary role | Overall value |
|---|---|---|---|
1 | Cryo Traveler | Stellar Reaction enabler, DPS, support | Excellent |
2 | Pyro Traveler | Off-field Pyro, support, situational DPS | Very good |
3 | Dendro Traveler | Off-field Dendro support | Good |
4 | Geo Traveler | Constructs, exploration, situational utility | Situationally useful |
5 | Anemo Traveler | Swirl, RES reduction, light crowd control | Replaceable |
6 | Electro Traveler | Energy support | Highly specialized |
7 | Hydro Traveler | Personal damage and limited Hydro application | Weak |
7. Hydro Traveler

Hydro is normally considered one of the strongest and most valuable elements in Genshin Impact. Unfortunately, simply having access to Hydro does not make Hydro Traveler a strong character.
Hydro Traveler’s held Elemental Skill fires a series of water projectiles, but the ability has limited practical value. Its damage is unimpressive without heavy investment, its Hydro application is inconsistent, and the Traveler must remain exposed while channeling the attack.
The Elemental Burst also struggles to solve the kit’s problems. Its movement can make it difficult to keep enemies inside the damage area, reducing both its damage and reaction consistency.
The biggest problem is competition. Genshin Impact already has many excellent Hydro characters that provide healing, defensive utility, off-field application, buffs, or significantly higher damage. Hydro Traveler does not have a unique advantage that would justify using one of the team’s four valuable slots.
Hydro Traveler can still be entertaining in the overworld, especially for players who enjoy the unusual projectile-based Skill, but the form offers very little value in serious team building.
Main strengths:
Free Hydro character
Unusual held-Skill gameplay
Can activate basic Hydro reactions
Main weaknesses:
Low damage without heavy investment
Poor and inconsistent Hydro application
Limited team utility
Faces extremely strong competition
Verdict: Hydro Traveler is currently the weakest of the seven elemental forms.
6. Electro Traveler
Electro Traveler is designed primarily as an Energy support.
Their abilities can restore Energy to teammates and help characters recharge expensive Elemental Bursts. When Inazuma first launched, this gave Electro Traveler a clear functional identity, particularly for accounts with limited Energy support options.
The problem is that Genshin Impact’s roster and combat design have changed. More characters now generate substantial Energy for themselves, use short rotations, rely mainly on their Elemental Skills, or receive Energy support from stronger characters who also provide damage and buffs.
A team only has four character slots, so every member is expected to contribute several forms of value. Electro Traveler mainly provides Energy, with relatively low personal damage and limited additional support.
Even when a team has Energy problems, players can usually solve them through weapons, Energy Recharge artifacts, Favonius equipment, optimized rotations, or more versatile battery characters.
Main strengths:
Direct Energy restoration
Can reduce the active character’s Energy requirements
Accessible to every player
Main weaknesses:
Low personal damage
Offers little beyond Energy support
Usually replaced by stronger batteries
Consumes a valuable team slot
Verdict: Electro Traveler performs a real function, but that function is no longer valuable enough to justify regular use.
5. Anemo Traveler
Anemo Traveler has a reasonably complete support kit.
The character can trigger Swirl, use Viridescent Venerer to reduce Elemental RES, move smaller enemies, and provide limited crowd control. These tools are all useful, especially for new players progressing through Mondstadt and Liyue.
The difficulty is competition within the Anemo roster.
Sucrose, Kaedehara Kazuha, Venti, Jean, Xianyun, and other Anemo characters can offer stronger grouping, better buffs, healing, more reliable off-field effects, or higher personal damage. As an account grows, Anemo Traveler becomes increasingly difficult to justify.
The Elemental Burst can also push smaller enemies away from the player, which is not always desirable. Instead of gathering enemies into a convenient location, it may carry them away from the team’s damage area.
Anemo Traveler still has enough functionality to work as an early Viridescent Venerer holder, but most developed accounts will have a better alternative.
Main strengths:
Can trigger Swirl
Can equip Viridescent Venerer
Offers limited crowd control
Accessible early in the game
Main weaknesses:
Burst can move enemies away
Less reliable grouping than specialist Anemo supports
Heavily outclassed by the existing Anemo roster
Verdict: A useful early-game support that becomes increasingly replaceable.
4. Geo Traveler

Geo Traveler is not highly ranked because of conventional damage or reaction support. Their main value comes from the unusual utility of Geo constructs.
The Elemental Skill creates a climbable meteorite that can be used to reach elevated objects, solve puzzles, obtain Oculi, block projectiles, manipulate enemy movement, or create temporary platforms.
This was especially valuable in Genshin Impact’s earlier regions. Modern maps often include regional movement mechanics, grappling points, jump boosts, or other tools that simplify exploration. Mondstadt and Liyue offered fewer of these conveniences, making Geo Traveler and Zhongli’s Stone Stele much more useful.
Geo Traveler has also appeared in creative Stygian Onslaught strategies. When combined with characters such as Jean and Zhongli, carefully positioned constructs can trap or displace certain enemies and take advantage of environmental or fall damage mechanics.
Their combat value remains highly situational, but very few characters can reproduce the same construct-based tricks.
Main strengths:
Excellent early-region exploration utility
Creates climbable Geo constructs
Useful for puzzles and reaching Oculi
Enables unusual environmental strategies
Main weaknesses:
Limited reaction value
Constructs can obstruct movement
Low priority in conventional damage teams
Utility depends heavily on the encounter
Verdict: Not a strong general combat unit, but one of the most uniquely practical Traveler forms.
3. Dendro Traveler

Dendro Traveler was the first elemental form that gave many players a strong reason to invest in the protagonist.
When Sumeru launched, the roster had very few off-field Dendro characters. Dendro Traveler offered sustained application, respectable Burst uptime, low acquisition cost, and immediate access to the newly introduced Dendro reactions.
The character could also equip Deepwood Memories to reduce enemy Dendro RES, allowing another Dendro damage dealer to use a more offensive Artifact set.
Dendro Traveler worked particularly well in Bloom, Hyperbloom, Quicken, and Aggravate teams. The kit was never designed to provide exceptional personal damage, but it did not need to. Reliable off-field Dendro application was already enough to make the character useful.
Today, players have access to more specialized Dendro supports and off-field applicators, so Dendro Traveler is no longer an automatic first choice. Even so, the form remains helpful in Imaginarium Theater, where elemental restrictions and roster requirements increase the value of free, functional characters.
Main strengths:
Consistent off-field Dendro application
Can use Deepwood Memories
Works in several Dendro reaction teams
Low investment and completely free
Useful for Imaginarium Theater roster requirements
Main weaknesses:
Lower personal damage than premium alternatives
Burst can be disrupted by Pyro
More replaceable than during Sumeru’s launch
Verdict: A reliable and economical Dendro support that remains worth building.
2. Pyro Traveler

Pyro Traveler represented a major improvement in the protagonist’s combat strength.
The character can function as an off-field Pyro applicator, reaction enabler, support, quick-swap damage dealer, or situational on-field DPS. This gives Pyro Traveler far more flexibility than most earlier elemental forms.
As a support, Pyro Traveler benefits from Natlan’s Nightsoul mechanics and can equip Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City, providing a large Elemental DMG Bonus after triggering the appropriate reaction. Their Skill also applies Pyro from off field, allowing them to support Natlan carries or function as a shield-breaking and reaction-enabling option.
Pyro Traveler also has two sets of constellation effects. Part of the original constellation design was created specifically for the Lord of Eroded Primal Fire encounter, while additional effects can be unlocked through Natlan progression. This makes the Traveler unusually effective against that weekly boss.
Outside that encounter, Pyro Traveler can act as a lower-cost alternative in teams that need Nightsoul-aligned Pyro application and Cinder City support. They do not completely replace Mavuika or other premium Pyro units, but they can cover several important functions without requiring Primogems.
Main strengths:
Off-field Pyro application
Access to Nightsoul mechanics
Excellent Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City holder
Can support reactions and break shields
Multiple viable combat roles
Exceptionally effective against the Lord of Eroded Primal Fire
Main weaknesses:
Off-field Pyro application has limited frequency and duration
Personal damage requires considerable investment
Stronger premium alternatives exist
Some of the most impressive effects are encounter-specific
Verdict: A flexible and genuinely useful free support that can also perform as a situational damage dealer.
1. Cryo Traveler

Cryo Traveler takes first place because the Snezhnaya form finally allows the protagonist to become a central part of a modern combat system.
Earlier Traveler forms were often included because the player lacked a better alternative. Cryo Traveler is different: the character can actively enable Version 7.0’s Stellar Reaction framework while also contributing personal damage and support.
With Cryo Traveler in the party, eligible Superconduct and Cryo Swirl reactions can be converted into Stellar-Conduct and Stellar Swirl. This gives players a free entry point into Snezhnaya’s new reaction system without requiring a limited 5-star enabler.
Cryo Traveler can be used in several roles:
On-field Cryo damage dealer
Quick-swap Burst DPS
Off-field support
Stellar Reaction enabler
Free-to-play core for Stellar-Conduct or Stellar Swirl teams
The character’s value is therefore structural as well as numerical. Even if a premium character eventually produces more damage, Cryo Traveler can still provide the reaction conversion needed to make an entire team function.
Version 7.0 also gives the Traveler access to the 5-star Exaiphanes Blade through Snezhnaya’s Archon Quest progression, providing a dedicated weapon option without requiring a Weapon Event Wish pull.
This combination of damage, support, reaction conversion, and accessibility makes Cryo Traveler the most complete version of the protagonist so far.
Main strengths:
Enables Stellar-Conduct and Stellar Swirl
Can function on field or off field
Contributes both damage and support
Provides a free entry point into Version 7.0 teams
Receives a dedicated 5-star weapon through progression
Has clear value in current Snezhnaya content
Main weaknesses:
Best performance depends on Stellar Reaction teams
Premium supports may still provide higher ceilings
Requires Snezhnaya progression to unlock the complete setup
Verdict: Cryo Traveler is the strongest and most complete Traveler form in Genshin Impact 7.0.
Final Ranking Explained
The seven Traveler forms can be divided into four practical tiers:
Tier | Traveler elements | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
S | Cryo | Modern reaction enabler with damage and support |
A | Pyro, Dendro | Strong free options with real team value |
B | Geo, Anemo | Useful but increasingly situational |
C | Electro, Hydro | Too limited or heavily outclassed |
Cryo Traveler wins because the character does more than provide basic elemental application. The form unlocks Stellar Reactions, supports the team, deals respectable damage, and can occupy several different combat roles.
Pyro Traveler ranks second because of strong role flexibility, Nightsoul access, off-field Pyro application, and compatibility with Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City.
Dendro Traveler remains the most reliable older form, especially for newer accounts and Imaginarium Theater. Geo Traveler retains unique exploration and construct utility, while Anemo Traveler is functional but replaceable.
Electro Traveler’s Energy support is too narrow for modern teams, and Hydro Traveler lacks the application, damage, and utility needed to compete with other Hydro characters.
Travelers preparing a Version 7.0 Stellar team can use Topuplist or the Genshin Impact recharge service to prepare for the limited characters they plan to pair with Cryo Traveler.
FAQ
What is the best Traveler element in Genshin Impact 7.0?
Cryo Traveler is currently the strongest overall form because they can enable Stellar-Conduct and Stellar Swirl while functioning as an on-field DPS, quick-swap damage dealer, or off-field support.
Is Cryo Traveler better than Pyro Traveler?
Cryo Traveler has more value in Version 7.0’s Stellar Reaction teams, while Pyro Traveler remains a flexible support for Natlan teams and Pyro-related reactions. Cryo ranks higher overall, but Pyro may be more useful for accounts that are not building Stellar teams.
Is Dendro Traveler still worth building?
Yes. Dendro Traveler remains a reliable off-field Dendro applicator, can equip Deepwood Memories, and is especially useful for newer accounts and Imaginarium Theater.
Why is Hydro Traveler ranked last?
Hydro Traveler has low damage, limited Hydro application, awkward channeling requirements, and very little team utility. The form also competes with many exceptionally strong Hydro characters.
Which Traveler element is best for exploration?
Geo Traveler remains one of the best forms for early-region exploration because the Elemental Skill creates climbable constructs that can help players reach Oculi and elevated locations.
Is Pyro Traveler a good replacement for Mavuika?
Pyro Traveler can serve as a budget alternative in teams that need off-field Pyro application, Nightsoul mechanics, or a Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City holder. However, they do not fully replace Mavuika’s damage and broader kit.
Do I need to build every Traveler element separately?
The Traveler’s character level is shared, but each elemental form has separate Talent levels. Most players should prioritize Cryo, Pyro, or Dendro instead of investing heavily in all seven forms.
