ZZZ Sigrid Build Guide: Best W-Engines, Drive Discs, Teams & Rotations

·ZZZ Guides Hub

Sigrid de L’Azur is an upcoming Ice Attack Agent built around short setup sequences followed by powerful burst damage during enemy Stun windows.

Her current pre-release kit revolves around entering Aerial Patrol Stance, alternating between different Draw attacks, and advancing a three-stage Holster attack. When an elite or boss becomes Stunned, Sigrid can use her Chain Attack to activate Formation Break and unleash the complete Holster sequence without waiting between stages.

That gives Sigrid a more technical rotation than a conventional button-mashing Attack Agent. Building her correctly requires balancing CRIT DMG, ATK, Ice DMG and enough CRIT Rate to avoid wasting her large combat buff.

This guide covers Sigrid’s best W-Engines, Drive Discs, main stats, teams, Bangboo, skill priority and practical combat rotations.

Pre-Release Notice: HoYoverse has officially revealed Sigrid and added her to the Airspace Patrol Department character roster, but her final combat data has not been published in an official update notice. Skill terminology, multipliers, W-Engine effects and team rankings may change before release. The official character page can be viewed here. (Zenless Zone Zero)

Dodge and Assist last

The most important building rule is not to overinvest in CRIT Rate. Sigrid’s current Core Passive can provide up to 72% combat CRIT Rate while her stance is active. A character starting the rotation with approximately 28% displayed CRIT Rate would therefore reach 100% during full buff uptime before counting additional temporary effects.

How Sigrid’s Kit Affects Her Build

Sigrid’s Role in a Team

Current pre-release information describes Sigrid as an on-field Ice Attack DPS with strong burst potential and a particular dependence on Stun windows.

She is not designed to remain active and repeat one attack indefinitely. Her damage loop requires the player to:

  1. Enter Aerial Patrol Stance.

  2. Use a Holster attack.

  3. Activate a different valid Draw attack.

  4. Refresh the stance.

  5. Advance the next Holster stage.

  6. Finish the strongest sequence during Stun.

Her Additional Ability currently activates when the squad contains a Support or Stun Agent and provides a substantial personal damage bonus. This makes at least one Stun or Support teammate essential rather than optional.

Draw, Aerial Patrol Stance and Holster Explained

The following actions are currently classified as Draw attacks:

  • Basic Attack fourth hit

  • EX Special Attack

  • Dodge Counter

  • Chain Attack

  • Ultimate

Landing one of these attacks enters Aerial Patrol Stance and grants one Holster opportunity. Holding Basic Attack then performs the corresponding Holster attack.

Each successful Holster advances the sequence from Stage 1 to Stage 2 and finally Stage 3. However, the Draw attack used to activate the stance temporarily becomes inactive. To continue the sequence, Sigrid must use a different Draw source.

For example:

Basic Attack 4 → Holster 1 → EX Special → Holster 2 → Dodge Counter or Ultimate → Holster 3

This alternating system is why Sigrid’s rotation rewards planning instead of repeatedly using whichever skill is available. (Icy Veins)

Why Stun Windows Matter

When Sigrid’s Chain Attack hits a Stunned elite or boss for the first time during that Stun window, it can activate Formation Break.

During Formation Break:

  • The stance duration stops decreasing.

  • Sigrid can perform Holster Stage 1 through Stage 3 consecutively.

  • She does not need to repeat the normal setup between every stage.

  • The sequence returns to its previous stage after Formation Break ends.

This means Sigrid’s team should create predictable Stun windows and apply buffs immediately before her Chain Attack. Her strongest damage is likely to come from compressing the full Holster sequence, EX Special Attack and Ultimate into that window.

Why Sigrid Can Overcap CRIT Rate

Sigrid’s pre-release Core Passive grants 72% CRIT Rate when Aerial Patrol Stance is activated or refreshed. The buff lasts eight seconds and repeated activations can extend its duration.

This creates several potential sources of wasted CRIT Rate:

  • CRIT Rate Disc 4

  • Woodpecker Electro’s 2-piece bonus

  • Deep Sea Visitor’s Basic Attack bonus

  • Deep Sea Visitor’s Dash Attack bonus

  • CRIT Rate substats

  • Team-based CRIT buffs

CRIT Rate remains useful when the stance buff is inactive or inconsistent. However, players should calculate Sigrid’s combat CRIT Rate, not only the number visible outside combat.

For most optimized builds, CRIT DMG is expected to be the better Disc 4 main stat.

Best W-Engines for Sigrid Ranked

The following order is provisional because Sigrid has not received live-server calculations. A W-Engine’s position can change depending on CRIT Rate, team buffs and whether its passive remains active during the full Stun window.

Current third-party build references recommend the signature as her likely best option, followed by existing Ice and Attack W-Engines such as Deep Sea Visitor, Myriad Eclipse, Marcato Desire and Cannon Rotor. Exact percentage differences are not yet available. (Icy Veins)

Sigrid’s Signature W-Engine

Sigrid’s signature W-Engine has not received a confirmed official English name.

Its current pre-release passive grants one CRIT DMG stack when a qualifying Basic Attack, EX Special Attack or Dodge Counter hits. Each skill category can provide one stack, and reaching three stacks grants additional Ice DMG and Ice RES ignore.

This design fits Sigrid because those attacks already form part of her normal Draw and Holster setup.

A practical opening sequence can activate every stack:

Basic Attack sequence → EX Special → Perfect Dodge and Dodge Counter

Once the maximum stack is reached, subsequent qualifying attacks refresh the effect. The main risk is that a short encounter may end before all three conditions are completed.

The signature is likely to offer the best overall combination of:

  • CRIT DMG

  • Ice damage

  • resistance reduction

  • long-duration buff coverage

  • direct synergy with Sigrid’s intended combo

However, its final pull value should be judged only after launch calculations compare it with existing S-Rank alternatives. (Icy Veins)

Myriad Eclipse

Myriad Eclipse is an attractive alternative when Sigrid already has enough CRIT Rate.

It provides a large amount of CRIT DMG and activates a short DEF-ignore effect after an Ice EX Special Attack, Chain Attack or Ultimate. These are exactly the skills Sigrid is likely to use during her primary burst window.

The main limitation is the three-second effect duration. Players must place their strongest hits immediately after the triggering skill rather than assuming the passive will cover an entire extended rotation.

Use Myriad Eclipse when:

  • Your displayed CRIT Rate is already sufficient.

  • You want stronger compressed burst.

  • Your team creates predictable Stun windows.

  • You can execute the Holster sequence without delaying.

Deep Sea Visitor

Deep Sea Visitor provides a large Ice DMG bonus and gains CRIT Rate through Basic and Dash Attacks.

It remains a strong stat option, but Sigrid’s own 72% CRIT Rate buff creates a serious overcap risk. A build using Deep Sea Visitor may need to remove almost every additional CRIT Rate substat and avoid a CRIT Rate Disc 4.

Deep Sea Visitor becomes more valuable when:

  • Sigrid’s final CRIT buff is reduced before release.

  • Your stance uptime is inconsistent.

  • Your Drive Discs contain little CRIT Rate.

  • You value a more forgiving build outside ideal rotations.

Do not obtain Deep Sea Visitor specifically for Sigrid before final calculations are available.

Marcato Desire

Marcato Desire is one of the most practical accessible options.

Its passive increases ATK after an EX Special Attack or Chain Attack hits. Both are common parts of Sigrid’s setup and Stun-window rotation, making the first part of the effect easy to activate.

The additional bonus against enemies under an Attribute Anomaly may be inconsistent depending on the team. Even without perfect anomaly coverage, the straightforward ATK increase makes Marcato Desire easier to use than many conditional alternatives.

Cannon Rotor

Cannon Rotor provides ATK and periodically deals extra damage after a critical hit.

Sigrid’s high combat CRIT Rate makes the trigger reliable, but the additional hit has an internal cooldown and does not directly improve her core Holster mechanics.

Use Cannon Rotor as an early or midgame option rather than an assumed endgame best-in-slot weapon.

Best Drive Discs for Sigrid

Best Overall Set: Woodpecker Electro

Woodpecker Electro is the safest provisional four-piece option.

Its two-piece effect grants CRIT Rate, while the four-piece effect grants ATK after critical hits from Basic Attack, Dodge Counter or EX Special Attack. Sigrid naturally uses all three attack categories to manage her stance and W-Engine stacks.

The disadvantage is that the two-piece CRIT Rate may become unnecessary in an optimized build. Woodpecker remains valuable primarily because the separate ATK buffs can align with her normal rotation.

Alternative Set: Hormone Punk

Hormone Punk is a strong alternative when Sigrid already has enough CRIT Rate.

Its four-piece effect increases ATK after the wearer becomes the active Agent. This supports a quick setup in which the team Stuns the enemy, applies Support buffs and then switches Sigrid in for a compressed damage window.

Its longer cooldown makes it less consistent across repeated short rotations, but it may outperform Woodpecker when Sigrid would otherwise exceed 100% combat CRIT Rate.

Best Two-Piece Options

Use the two-piece set that corrects the weakest part of your build:

  • Branch & Blade Song: Best when more CRIT DMG is required.

  • Polar Metal: Best for additional Ice damage.

  • Astral Voice: Useful when ATK is comparatively low.

  • Woodpecker Electro: Only when combat CRIT Rate remains below the target.

  • Hormone Punk: A straightforward ATK option.

Current pre-release build pages identify Woodpecker Electro and Hormone Punk as the leading four-piece choices, with Branch & Blade Song, Polar Metal and Astral Voice among the preferred two-piece additions.

Extra CRIT Rate provides little or no value

Based on the current 72% stance bonus:

  • Around 28% displayed CRIT Rate: Theoretical minimum for reaching 100% while the complete buff is active.

  • 30%–40% displayed CRIT Rate: More forgiving when uptime is imperfect.

  • Above 40%: Potentially inefficient unless the final kit changes or the stance buff is unavailable during meaningful attacks.

These numbers should not be treated as final live-server breakpoints. Deep Sea Visitor, Woodpecker Electro, team buffs and Mindscapes can change the calculation.

Ice DMG or ATK% on Disc 5?

Ice DMG Bonus is the default choice because Sigrid deals predominantly Ice damage.

ATK% may become competitive when:

  • The W-Engine supplies a large Ice DMG bonus.

  • The team supplies several damage-bonus effects but limited ATK.

  • ATK% has substantially better substats.

  • Enemy-specific calculations favor a more balanced multiplier distribution.

Until live simulations are available, choose the piece with stronger effective substats rather than forcing a weak Ice DMG disc.

Does Sigrid Need Energy Regen?

ATK% should remain the default Disc 6 main stat.

Sigrid’s stance currently reduces the Energy cost of her EX Special Attack, helping her complete the intended rotation without dedicating an entire main stat to Energy Regen.

Consider Energy Regen only when testing shows that:

  • The EX Special is unavailable during every important Stun window.

  • Your selected team generates little Energy.

  • The stage demands frequent short rotations.

  • Losing ATK is offset by completing an additional EX sequence.

Best Sigrid Teams

Sigrid’s current Additional Ability requires at least one Support or Stun Agent. Her highest-value teams should also provide fast Daze, strong short-duration buffs and enough field space for her full Stun-window sequence.

Current pre-release team recommendations identify Norma, Sunna, Lycaon, Lighter, Astra Yao, Soukaku and Lucy as notable partners. Prydwen has not yet published live Shiyu Defense or Deadly Assault analytics for Sigrid, so no team should be treated as proven by endgame clear data.

Best Premium Team: Sigrid, Norma and Sunna

Norma is currently expected to be Sigrid’s strongest Stun partner because she combines Daze, team buffs and longer Stun windows.

A longer Stun window is particularly valuable for Sigrid. It gives her more time to:

  • Complete her Chain Attack.

  • Activate Formation Break.

  • Perform Holster Stages 1–3.

  • Use EX Special Attack.

  • Fit an Ultimate before the enemy recovers.

Sunna adds ATK support and off-field contribution without consuming too much field time.

A provisional rotation is:

Norma builds Daze → Sunna applies buffs → enemy becomes Stunned → Sigrid Chain Attack → Holster 1–3 → EX Special → Ultimate

The exact order between EX, Ultimate and the Holster sequence should be updated after animation-frame and damage-distribution testing.

Sigrid Team Without Norma

Sigrid does not require Norma to function.

The strongest current alternatives are:

  • Von Lycaon: Reliable Stun and Ice RES reduction.

  • Lighter: Stun support, elemental amplification and longer Stun windows.

  • Anby: Accessible Stun option for low-cost teams.

  • Dialyn: Potential alternative where her team utility fits the encounter.

Lycaon is the most natural Ice-focused substitute. Lighter may provide a better burst environment when his Stun extension allows Sigrid to finish attacks that would otherwise land after recovery.

Sigrid Team Without Sunna

Sunna can be replaced by:

  • Astra Yao: Powerful general damage support.

  • Soukaku: Ice-oriented support and accessible team option.

  • Lucy: Simple ATK support with off-field contribution.

  • Zhao: An alternative for compatible Lighter-based teams.

Soukaku is particularly practical for players already using Lycaon. Together they form a familiar Ice support core while satisfying Sigrid’s Additional Ability condition.

Best Budget Sigrid Team

A practical budget team is:

Sigrid + Anby + Soukaku

This recommendation is an inference from Sigrid’s current activation requirements and the roles of the two accessible teammates.

Anby handles Daze, while Soukaku provides Ice-oriented support. The team lacks the extended Stun duration and premium amplification of Norma or Lighter teams, but it provides every essential function:

  • Stun generation

  • Support activation

  • Ice synergy

  • low field-time competition

  • accessible teammates

The main objective is to avoid wasting Sigrid’s burst before Anby finishes the Stun setup.

Best Bangboo for Sigrid

Ultra Jake is currently listed as Sigrid’s leading Bangboo because its faction condition can activate with one Roscaelifer Agent.

Snap is a useful support-oriented alternative. Other Bangboo choices should be based on the remaining teammates and whether their passive activation conditions are satisfied.

How to Play Sigrid

Sigrid’s Basic Gameplay Loop

Outside Stun, use the following structure:

  1. Activate a Draw attack to enter Aerial Patrol Stance.

  2. Hold Basic Attack to use Holster Stage 1.

  3. Use a different Draw attack to refresh the stance.

  4. Hold Basic Attack to use Holster Stage 2.

  5. Use another available Draw attack.

  6. Hold Basic Attack to use Holster Stage 3.

  7. Switch to teammates to rebuild buffs and Daze.

  8. Repeat or prepare for the next Stun window.

A simple example is:

Basic Attack 4 → Hold Basic → EX Special → Hold Basic → Dodge Counter → Hold Basic

The exact sequence can change depending on Energy and enemy behavior.

Beginner Rotation

Use this rotation when learning the character:

Stun Agent setup → Support buff → Sigrid Chain Attack → Hold Basic through Holster sequence → EX Special → Ultimate

This version minimizes off-Stun stance management and focuses on using Sigrid only when the enemy cannot interrupt the sequence.

It may not produce the highest theoretical damage, but it is easier to execute consistently.

Standard Non-Stun Rotation

Use the following provisional loop when Sigrid needs to remain active:

  1. Complete Basic Attack 4 to enter Aerial Patrol Stance.

  2. Hold Basic Attack for Holster Stage 1.

  3. Use EX Special Attack to refresh the stance.

  4. Hold Basic Attack for Holster Stage 2.

  5. Perfect Dodge and use Dodge Counter.

  6. Hold Basic Attack for Holster Stage 3.

  7. Switch out while the Stun Agent prepares the next opening.

The Dodge Counter preserves Sigrid’s current Basic Attack chain, making it especially useful when the enemy attacks during setup.

Optimal Stun-Window Rotation

The following is a safe pre-release structure rather than a finalized damage simulation:

  1. Build Daze with the Stun Agent.

  2. Apply the Support Agent’s primary buff immediately before Stun.

  3. Trigger the enemy’s Stun.

  4. Select Sigrid’s Chain Attack.

  5. Activate Formation Break.

  6. Hold Basic Attack to execute Holster Stages 1–3.

  7. Use EX Special Attack while buffs remain active.

  8. Use Ultimate before the Stun window ends.

  9. Resume the next stance setup or switch out.

Depending on final animation times, EX or Ultimate may be moved before the Holster chain. The priority is to keep the strongest hits inside the Stun multiplier and Support buff duration.

Rotation Without Enough Energy

When EX Special Attack is unavailable:

  • Enter the stance through Basic Attack 4.

  • Use the first Holster stage.

  • Refresh with Dodge Counter.

  • Use the next Holster stage.

  • Save Ultimate as the third Draw source when available.

  • Switch out rather than forcing an incomplete low-damage sequence.

Do not remain on-field using basic attacks indefinitely while your Stun and Support Agents’ abilities are ready.

Shiyu Defense Rotation

In multi-wave Shiyu Defense stages:

  • Avoid spending Ultimate on a nearly defeated minor enemy.

  • Use Basic Attack 4 and Dodge Counter for cheaper stance refreshes.

  • Preserve Energy for the elite wave.

  • Do not start a long Holster sequence when the target is about to die.

  • Use the Stun character to group or control the next wave before switching Sigrid in.

Fast startup can be more important than theoretical maximum burst in short waves.

Deadly Assault Rotation

Against single bosses:

  • Track the next Stun window carefully.

  • Save Chain Attack access for Formation Break.

  • Apply every major team buff shortly before Stun.

  • Avoid using Holster Stage 3 immediately before the boss becomes Stunned.

  • Reserve EX and Ultimate for the highest-scoring damage window.

  • Use perfect dodges to maintain setup without losing the Basic Attack chain.

Deadly Assault is more likely to reward complete burst alignment than repeated partial rotations.

Sigrid Skill Priority

A practical pre-release leveling order is:

Core Skill > Basic Attack > Special Attack ≈ Chain Attack and Ultimate > Dodge > Assist

Core Skill

The Core Skill is the highest priority because it controls:

  • Aerial Patrol Stance

  • Holster stage progression

  • CRIT Rate

  • reduced EX Energy cost

  • Additional Ability damage bonuses

Sigrid’s complete combat loop depends on these mechanics.

Basic Attack

Holster attacks are activated through the Basic Attack input and appear to form a major part of Sigrid’s damage distribution.

Basic Attack should therefore receive high priority rather than being treated as filler damage.

Special Attack

EX Special Attack is both a high-damage action and a Draw source used to refresh Aerial Patrol Stance. It is important for maintaining the intended rotation.

Chain Attack and Ultimate

Chain Attack is essential during elite and boss Stun windows because it activates Formation Break. Ultimate provides another Draw source and a major burst attack.

Their exact leveling priority relative to Special Attack should be updated when final damage multipliers are available.

Dodge and Assist

Dodge Counter has meaningful mechanical value because it acts as a Draw and preserves the current Basic Attack chain. However, players with limited materials can prioritize the core damage categories first.

Is Sigrid’s Signature W-Engine Necessary?

No current evidence suggests that Sigrid cannot function without her signature.

The signature appears strong because its three activation conditions mirror attacks already used in her normal rotation. It also avoids the CRIT Rate saturation problem of Deep Sea Visitor by focusing on CRIT DMG and offensive multipliers.

However, Sigrid can still use:

  • Myriad Eclipse for burst damage

  • Deep Sea Visitor when CRIT Rate is carefully managed

  • Marcato Desire for an accessible ATK option

  • Cannon Rotor as an early-game alternative

Current pre-release recommendations favor the signature over M1 when choosing only one upgrade, but that conclusion should be verified after launch calculations.

Common Sigrid Build Mistakes

Overcapping CRIT Rate

Do not evaluate CRIT Rate using only the out-of-combat character screen. Add Sigrid’s stance bonus, W-Engine effects, Disc effects and teammate buffs.

Repeating an Inactive Draw Attack

The Draw attack that activated or refreshed Aerial Patrol Stance temporarily becomes inactive. Use another Draw source before trying to advance the next Holster stage.

Using Holster Stage 3 Before Stun

The third Holster hit should generally be aligned with a major damage window. Spending it immediately before the enemy becomes Stunned can waste Sigrid’s strongest burst opportunity.

Activating Support Buffs Too Early

Short-duration buffs may expire while the Stun character is still building Daze. Apply them shortly before or immediately after the enemy enters Stun.

Forcing a CRIT Rate Disc 4

A CRIT Rate Disc 4 can create severe overcap when the Core Passive is active. CRIT DMG is the safer default.

Ignoring the Additional Ability

Sigrid currently needs a Support or Stun Agent to activate her Additional Ability. A team built entirely from other specialties may lose a major damage bonus.

Using the Same Rotation in Every Mode

Shiyu Defense rewards quick wave transitions, while Deadly Assault emphasizes optimized boss windows. Adjust Energy spending and Ultimate timing accordingly.

Farming Too Aggressively Before Release

Sigrid’s kit and optimal Drive Disc set remain based on pre-release information. Preserve enough Battery Charge and resources to react to final changes.

Sigrid Build FAQ

What is the best W-Engine for Sigrid?

Sigrid’s unreleased signature W-Engine is currently expected to be her best option because it provides CRIT DMG, Ice DMG and Ice RES ignore through attacks she naturally uses.

What is Sigrid’s best accessible W-Engine?

Marcato Desire is a practical accessible option because its ATK passive activates through EX Special Attacks and Chain Attacks. Cannon Rotor can be used as an earlier alternative.

What are the best Drive Discs for Sigrid?

Woodpecker Electro is the leading provisional four-piece set. Hormone Punk is an alternative when Sigrid already has sufficient CRIT Rate.

Should Sigrid use CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG on Disc 4?

CRIT DMG is the default choice. Her current Core Passive provides up to 72% combat CRIT Rate, making a CRIT Rate main stat easy to overcap.

How much CRIT Rate does Sigrid need?

Approximately 28% displayed CRIT Rate would theoretically reach 100% while the complete 72% Core Passive buff is active. A slightly higher value may provide more consistent damage when the buff is unavailable.

Should Sigrid use Ice DMG or ATK% on Disc 5?

Ice DMG is the default. ATK% can compete when it has much stronger substats or the rest of the build already provides large damage bonuses.

Does Sigrid need an Energy Regen Disc 6?

Usually no. ATK% should provide more damage, while the current stance reduces the Energy cost of her EX Special Attack.

Does Sigrid need a Stun Agent?

A Stun Agent is highly recommended because Sigrid’s strongest burst mechanic is designed around enemy Stun windows. Her Additional Ability can also be activated by either a Stun or Support teammate.

What is Sigrid’s best team?

The leading pre-release premium team is Sigrid, Norma and Sunna. Sigrid, Lycaon and Soukaku is a more accessible Ice-focused alternative.

Can Sigrid work without Norma?

Yes. Lycaon, Lighter and Anby are possible Stun alternatives, although the team may lose Stun duration or premium buffs.

Can Sigrid work without Sunna?

Yes. Astra Yao, Soukaku, Lucy and other compatible Supports can replace Sunna.

What is the best budget Sigrid team?

Sigrid, Anby and Soukaku is a practical low-cost team that provides Stun generation, Support activation and Ice synergy.

How do you reach Holster Stage 3?

Use a Draw attack, perform Holster Stage 1, refresh the stance with a different Draw attack, perform Stage 2, then repeat with another Draw source before using Stage 3.

What is Sigrid’s skill priority?

Prioritize Core Skill first, followed by Basic Attack, Special Attack, Chain Attack and Ultimate. Dodge and Assist can be upgraded later.

Final Sigrid Build Recommendation

Sigrid’s best current build uses her signature W-Engine, 4-piece Woodpecker Electro and a 2-piece CRIT DMG, Ice DMG or ATK set.

Use CRIT DMG on Disc 4, Ice DMG on Disc 5 and ATK% on Disc 6. Carefully limit CRIT Rate because her current Core Passive can supply 72% during Aerial Patrol Stance.

Her ideal team contains a fast Stun Agent and a low-field-time Support. Norma and Sunna form the strongest projected premium core, while Lycaon with Soukaku or Anby with Soukaku provide more accessible alternatives.

The key to playing Sigrid is not simply attacking faster. Alternate different Draw attacks, advance Holster correctly and reserve the full three-stage sequence for the enemy’s Stun window.
