Who Is Nilou?

Nilou is a limited 5-star Hydro Sword character from Sumeru, released in Version 3.1 (September 28, 2022). She is the star of the Zubayr Theater and a devoted dancer whose grace translates into devastating Hydro application. Nilou's unique A1 passive transforms standard Bloom reactions into Bountiful Cores — special Dendro Cores that detonate faster, deal more damage in a larger AoE, and cannot be converted into Hyperbloom or Burgeon. This mechanic makes her the centerpiece of the Bountiful Bloom team archetype, restricted to Hydro and Dendro party members only.

Skill Mechanics and Talent Priority

Normal Attack: Dance of Samser

  • Performs up to 3 consecutive sword strikes.

  • Charged Attack: Consumes stamina to perform a twirling slash.

  • Plunging Attack: Plunges to deal AoE DMG on impact.

Elemental Skill: Dance of Haftkarsvar

Cooldown: 18s.

  • Enters the Pirouette state, dealing Hydro DMG that scales off Max HP.

  • After the third dance step, triggers one of two effects based on input:

    • Sword Dance: Enters Lunar Prayer state, converting Normal Attacks into Sword Dance techniques that deal Hydro DMG.

    • Whirling Steps: Creates a Whirling Water Wheel and a Tranquility Aura that follows the active character, applying the Wet status to nearby enemies.

Elemental Burst: Dance of Abzendegi: Distant Dreams, Listening Spring

Energy Cost: 70. Cooldown: 18s.

  • Blooms a Lotus of Distant Waters, dealing AoE Hydro DMG that scales off Max HP.

  • Applies Lingering Aeon to enemies, dealing delayed Hydro DMG.

Passive Talents

Talent

Unlock

Effect

Court of Dancing Petals

Ascension 1

When the party contains only Hydro and Dendro characters, the third dance step grants the Golden Chalice's Bounty (30s): characters hit by Dendro attacks gain +100 EM, and Bloom creates Bountiful Cores (faster detonation, larger AoE, cannot trigger Hyperbloom/Burgeon).

Dreamy Dance of Aeons

Ascension 4

Every 1,000 Max HP above 30,000 adds +9% Bountiful Core DMG, up to +400% (cap at 74,445 HP).

White Jade Lotus

Utility

Chance to double output when cooking Padisarah Pudding.

Talent Leveling Priority

Elemental Skill > Elemental Burst >> Normal Attack

  • Highest Priority: Elemental Skill — core to her playstyle, enables Bountiful Cores.

  • Second Priority: Elemental Burst — provides additional Hydro DMG and application.

  • Normal Attack: Lowest priority — irrelevant for Bountiful Bloom teams.

Important: In Bountiful Bloom teams, talent levels do not affect Bloom damage. Leveling Nilou to 90 (for maximum HP) is the real priority over talent investment.

Constellations

Constellation

Effect

Value

C0

Fully functional baseline. The recommended stopping point — Bountiful Bloom teams are complete at C0.

C2

Applies −35% Hydro RES on Hydro hit and −35% Dendro RES on Bloom damage.

Worth pulling — rare RES shred for Bountiful Bloom teams.

C4

Refunds 15 Energy on Skill hit + 50% Burst DMG bonus.

Energy comfort and minor DMG boost.

C6

Grants +0.6% CRIT Rate and +1.2% CRIT DMG per 1,000 HP (caps at 30% CRIT / 60% CD at 50,000 HP).

Transformative — unlocks Vaporize DPS playstyle.

Recommendation: C0 is the optimal stopping point. C2 provides valuable RES shred. C6 is a whale-tier constellation that fundamentally changes her playstyle by enabling CRIT-based builds.

Summary

Nilou is a specialized Hydro enabler who transforms Bloom teams with her Bountiful Cores, dealing massive AoE damage that scales off her Max HP. Her strict Hydro/Dendro-only party restriction is well worth the trade-off, as Bountiful Bloom teams rival Hyperbloom in total DPS while requiring lower investment. Build her with HP% main stats on 2pc Tenacity of the Millelith + 2pc Vourukasha's Glow, and prioritize leveling her to 90 over talent investment. Key of Khaj Nisut is her best weapon, but The Dockhand's Assistant works as a 4★ HP% alternative. C0 is the recommended stopping point — her kit is fully functional without constellations.
