Who Is Kaedehara Kazuha?

Kaedehara Kazuha is a limited 5-star Anemo Sword character from Inazuma, released in Version 1.6 (June 29, 2021). He is a wandering samurai of the Kaedehara Clan and a member of Beidou's Crux Fleet. In combat, Kazuha is one of Genshin Impact's most flexible Anemo supports, combining crowd control, Swirl damage, Elemental DMG Bonus, and Viridescent Venerer resistance shred.

Kazuha is best used in teams that deal Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo damage. His Elemental Mastery build lets him buff the element he Swirls while also dealing strong Transformative Reaction damage, especially in multi-target content.

Skill Mechanics and Talent Priority

Normal Attack: Garyuu Bladework

  • Performs up to 5 rapid sword strikes.

  • Charged Attack consumes Stamina to perform 2 quick sword strikes.

  • When Kazuha uses his Elemental Skill and performs Midare Ranzan, the plunge uses his Plunging Attack scaling.

  • For a standard full Elemental Mastery support build, Talent levels are less important than Kazuha's character level and Elemental Mastery.

Elemental Skill: Chihayaburu

Press Cooldown: 6s. Hold Cooldown: 9s.

  • Pulls enemies and objects toward Kazuha, deals Anemo DMG, and launches him into the air.

  • While airborne after using Chihayaburu, Kazuha can perform Midare Ranzan, an Anemo-converted Plunging Attack.

  • Press Skill is faster and useful in tight rotations.

  • Hold Skill has stronger grouping, wider AoE, more Anemo application, and better particle generation.

  • Kazuha's Skill can absorb Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo and deal additional damage of that element.

Elemental Burst: Kazuha Slash

Energy Cost: 60. Cooldown: 15s.

  • Deals AoE Anemo DMG and creates Autumn Whirlwind, a field that deals periodic AoE Anemo DMG.

  • The field can absorb Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo once per use and deal additional damage of that element.

  • Absorption priority generally follows: Pyro > Hydro > Electro > Cryo.

  • Kazuha's Burst is important for off-field Elemental application, Swirl damage, and refreshing his support value during rotations.

Passive Talents

Talent

Unlock

Effect

Soumon Swordsmanship

Ascension 1

If Chihayaburu absorbs an element, Midare Ranzan deals additional damage of that element.

Poetics of Fuubutsu

Ascension 4

When Kazuha triggers Swirl, he grants party members Elemental DMG Bonus for the Swirled element based on his Elemental Mastery.

Cloud Strider

Utility

Decreases sprinting Stamina consumption for party members.

Talent Leveling Priority

Character Level > Elemental Burst > Normal Attack = Elemental Skill

  • Highest Priority: Level Kazuha to 90 - Swirl damage scales strongly with character level.

  • Second Priority: Elemental Burst - important for off-field damage and Elemental application.

  • Third Priority: Normal Attack and Elemental Skill - both improve parts of his Skill and Midare Ranzan damage.

For most support builds, do not over-invest in Talents before reaching Level 90, enough Energy Recharge, and high Elemental Mastery.

Elemental Mastery

Substats: Energy Recharge until requirement > Elemental Mastery > CRIT Rate if using Favonius Sword > ATK% / CRIT

Energy Recharge Requirements:

  • Common rotations without Favonius Sword: around 160-200% depending on Skill usage and team particles

  • With Favonius Sword or Xiphos' Moonlight: often around 140-170%

  • Double Anemo or Raiden teams: usually lower requirements

  • Single Hold Skill rotations: can require very high Energy Recharge and are usually less comfortable

Kazuha should usually run a full Elemental Mastery build. Elemental Mastery improves his Swirl damage and increases the Elemental DMG Bonus from his Ascension 4 passive.

Set Options

Set

Effect

Verdict

Viridescent Venerer 4pc

Anemo DMG Bonus, Swirl DMG Bonus, and Elemental RES shred after Swirl.

Best overall. Kazuha's standard set in almost every team.

Thundering Fury 4pc

Electro reaction bonus and Elemental Skill cooldown reduction.

Niche option for specific Electro-Charged or Aggravate quickswap teams.

Emblem of Severed Fate 4pc

Energy Recharge and Burst DMG Bonus.

Niche option for Triple Anemo off-field DPS builds.

2pc EM + 2pc EM

Elemental Mastery bonuses.

Temporary option while farming Viridescent Venerer.

Viridescent Venerer is Kazuha's most important artifact set because it combines his own Swirl damage with powerful teamwide damage amplification. Mixed Elemental Mastery sets can work temporarily, but 4pc Viridescent Venerer should be the long-term goal.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Elemental Mastery 198

BiS for team buffing when Kazuha can meet Energy Recharge requirements.

Skyward Blade

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Energy Recharge 55.1%

Comfortable Energy Recharge option, but weaker team utility than Freedom-Sworn.

Xiphos' Moonlight

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Elemental Mastery 165

One of Kazuha's best 4-star weapons, especially at high refinements. Helps team Energy Recharge.

Favonius Sword

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Energy Recharge 61.3%

Excellent comfort and team battery option. Build some CRIT Rate to trigger the passive.

Sacrificial Sword

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Energy Recharge 61.3%

Allows extra Skill use for more grouping and particles, but can extend rotations.

Iron Sting

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Elemental Mastery 165

Strong free craftable option when Energy Recharge is already covered. Refinements are not necessary.

Toukabou Shigure

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Elemental Mastery 165

Event weapon similar to Iron Sting for Kazuha's EM build.

Fleuve Cendre Ferryman

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Energy Recharge 45.9%

Free fishing weapon and useful if Energy Recharge is difficult to reach.

Dark Iron Sword

⭐⭐⭐

Elemental Mastery 141

Budget option if no better EM or ER sword is available.

For most players, Favonius Sword is the easiest comfort weapon, Xiphos' Moonlight is a premium 4-star support option, and Freedom-Sworn is the best team-buffing weapon when Energy Recharge needs are already solved.

Key Constellations

Constellation

Effect

Verdict

C1 - Scarlet Hills

Reduces Chihayaburu cooldown and resets it after using Kazuha Slash.

Useful for extra grouping and particles, but can lengthen rotations.

C2 - Yamaarashi Tailwind

Autumn Whirlwind increases Kazuha's Elemental Mastery and the on-field character's Elemental Mastery.

Best early constellation. Huge value for reaction teams.

C3 - Maple Monogatari

Elemental Skill level +3.

Minor to moderate personal damage increase.

C4 - Oozora Genpou

Improves Energy restoration when Kazuha has low Energy and glides.

Quality-of-life constellation, not a major damage spike.

C5 - Wisdom of Bansei

Elemental Burst level +3.

Good personal damage increase, but less important than C2.

C6 - Crimson Momiji

Grants Anemo infusion after Skill or Burst and adds EM-based Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attack damage.

Enables on-field DPS Kazuha builds, but is a luxury constellation.

Recommendation: Kazuha is already one of the strongest supports at C0. C2 is his most important constellation for reaction teams, while C6 is mainly for players who want to play him as an on-field damage dealer.

Team Compositions

Kazuha fits into many teams because he buffs Swirled elements, groups enemies, and applies Viridescent Venerer RES shred. He is strongest with Pyro, Hydro, Electro, and Cryo damage dealers.

Rotation

  • Standard support setup: Apply the element you want to buff -> Kazuha Skill or Burst to Swirl -> use team buffs -> swap to the main damage dealer.

  • Double Swirl setup: Apply two relevant elements in sequence, then use Kazuha's Skill or Burst to trigger buffs and RES shred for both.

  • Important: Control Kazuha's Elemental Absorption. Pyro has high priority, so Bennett or enemy Pyro auras can change what his Skill or Burst absorbs.
