AFK Journey Lamentis Build Guide: Best Teams, EX Weapon & Investment Priority

Lamentis is an S-Level Hypogean Marksman introduced in AFK Journey Version 1.7.2. Unlike conventional ranged carries, Lamentis fights by creating Apostles that inherit part of their stats, use normal attacks, trigger Starcrusher, and eventually transfer Growth stacks back to their creator.

Once Lamentis reaches maximum Growth at EX Weapon +15, all Six Eyes open. This dramatically changes the character: Apostles become permanent, new Apostles are created at no HP cost, Starcrusher gains additional true damage, and Lamentis receives healing and Energy from Apostle attacks.

That makes Lamentis a scaling carry rather than an immediate burst damage dealer. The character needs time, Attack Speed, protection, and substantial investment before reaching full potential.

This guide covers the best Lamentis teams, EX Weapon level, investment priority, skills, artifacts, positioning, and whether Lamentis is worth building.

Early testing note: Lamentis was released on July 2, 2026. Exact best-in-slot teams may continue changing as players test the character against different Dream Realm bosses and Supreme Arena defenses.

The most important takeaway is that EX +15 is the recommended functional breakpoint. Mythic+ unlocks Omnisight, but Lamentis does not gain the full Six Eyes transformation until EX +15.

Is Lamentis Worth Building in AFK Journey?

Lamentis is worth building for players who need a long-fight damage dealer and can afford the investment required by a Hypogean hero.

The character is especially promising in fights where there is enough time to create Apostles, generate Growth stacks, and activate Six Eyes. That naturally points toward Dream Realm, Primal Lord encounters, and other extended boss battles.

Lamentis is less convincing as an early-account priority. A new or resource-limited player may obtain more overall account value from completing established Celestial and Hypogean heroes before committing to another expensive carry.

Build Lamentis If You:

  • Compete seriously in Dream Realm or seasonal boss content.

  • Already have reliable tanks, healers, and offensive supports.

  • Can reach at least Mythic+ and EX +15.

  • Have built summon-focused heroes such as Aurora or Florabelle.

  • Want a carry designed around sustained damage rather than opening burst.

Consider Skipping Lamentis If You:

  • Cannot realistically reach EX +15.

  • Still need more universally useful Celestial or Hypogean heroes.

  • Primarily need help with short AFK Stage battles.

  • Lack a team capable of protecting Lamentis during the ramp-up period.

  • Are looking for a low-investment plug-and-play damage dealer.

Is Lamentis F2P-Friendly?

Lamentis is usable by free-to-play players, but the character is not especially F2P-friendly.

The primary issue is not simply obtaining one copy. Lamentis needs Mythic+ to unlock Omnisight and ideally EX +15 to activate Six Eyes. That requires a substantial number of copies and Exclusive Weapon materials.

For F2P players, Lamentis should therefore be treated as a long-term account project rather than a casual one-copy acquisition.

How Lamentis Works

Lamentis revolves around three connected mechanics:

  1. Creating Apostles with Astral Fission.

  2. Generating and transferring Growth stacks.

  3. Reaching 20 Growth stacks to activate Six Eyes.

Understanding this loop is more important than simply reading the individual skill descriptions.

Step 1: Create Apostles

Astral Fission sacrifices 5% of Lamentis's maximum HP to create two Apostles.

Each Apostle:

  • Lasts for 12 seconds before EX +15.

  • Inherits a portion of Lamentis's ATK and HP.

  • Uses normal attacks and Starcrusher.

  • Prioritizes Lamentis's current target.

  • Can merge back into Lamentis if it survives its full duration.

Lamentis can have up to six Apostles on the battlefield simultaneously.

Step 2: Generate Growth Stacks

After Omnisight is unlocked at Mythic+, each normal attack performed by an Apostle grants that Apostle one Growth stack.

When the Apostle completes its duration and merges back into Lamentis, its Growth stacks transfer to Lamentis. Lamentis can hold a maximum of 20 Growth stacks.

Each Growth stack increases basic stats by:

  • 4% at EX +0.

  • 5% at EX +5.

  • 6% at EX +10.

This is why Apostle survival and Attack Speed are so important. Apostles that attack more frequently generate Growth faster, while Apostles that die early may fail to transfer their accumulated power.

Step 3: Activate Six Eyes

At EX +15, reaching 20 Growth stacks activates Six Eyes.

While Six Eyes is active:

  • Lamentis creates an Apostle every three seconds at no HP cost.

  • New Apostles continue appearing until the six-Apostle cap is reached.

  • Apostles no longer expire naturally.

  • Starcrusher gains 240% additional true damage.

  • Lamentis recovers HP equal to part of the actual damage dealt by Apostles.

  • Lamentis receives 20% of the Energy generated by Apostles.

EX +15 effectively changes Lamentis from a temporary summoner into a permanent summon engine.

Full numerical descriptions can be checked through the Prydwen Lamentis character database.

Lamentis Skills Explained

Malevolent Gaze

Malevolent Gaze is Lamentis's Ultimate.

Each active Apostle targets an enemy, prioritizing different frontmost enemies, and stuns that target for 3.5 seconds. Lamentis then damages all enemies, while the Apostles reduce the maximum HP of their stunned targets by an amount based on Lamentis's initial maximum HP.

After the Ultimate is cast, Lamentis and all Apostles gain 60 Attack Speed for 10 seconds.

The ability provides three forms of value:

  • Area damage from Lamentis.

  • Multi-target control from the Apostles.

  • A major Attack Speed increase that accelerates Starcrusher and Growth generation.

In PvP, try to cast Malevolent Gaze while several Apostles are present so that more enemies can be stunned. In boss battles, the Attack Speed increase is usually the most important part of the Ultimate.

Starcrusher

Every third normal attack causes Lamentis to throw an enchanted fork that deals direct damage plus additional damage based on the target's maximum HP.

Apostles can also use Starcrusher.

This creates strong synergy with Attack Speed because faster normal attacks produce:

  • More Starcrusher activations from Lamentis.

  • More Starcrusher activations from every Apostle.

  • Faster Growth generation.

  • Faster access to Six Eyes.

After EX +15, Starcrusher cast by Lamentis or an Apostle receives an additional true damage component.

Astral Fission

Astral Fission is the core summoning skill.

Lamentis sacrifices 5% of maximum HP to create two Apostles. At maximum skill level, each Apostle inherits a significant portion of Lamentis's ATK and HP.

If an Apostle survives until its duration ends, it merges back into Lamentis and restores HP based on the actual damage it dealt while active.

The healing only occurs when the Apostle successfully completes the pre-Six Eyes cycle. Therefore, strong enemy area damage can disrupt both Lamentis's Growth generation and self-sustain.

Hero Focus

Lamentis's Hero Focus provides Attack Speed to both Lamentis and the Apostles.

At Hero Focus Level 3:

  • Lamentis and all Apostles gain 30 Attack Speed.

  • They gain an additional 5 Attack Speed for every Apostle currently on the battlefield.

With six Apostles active, the full bonus can become extremely valuable. Hero Focus Level 3 is therefore one of the strongest upgrades after securing EX +15.

Omnisight

Omnisight is Lamentis's Exclusive Skill and the foundation of the entire build.

It enables Apostles to generate Growth stacks through normal attacks and allows those stacks to transfer to Lamentis when the Apostles merge back.

The skill's EX +15 enhancement unlocks Six Eyes, which is the most important power spike in Lamentis's progression.

Supreme+ Enhance Force

At Supreme+, Lamentis gains an additional interaction with team buffs.

Whenever an Apostle receives stat buffs from an ally, Lamentis receives 10% of the same buffs.

This gives Lamentis additional synergy with supports that can apply offensive stat bonuses to multiple allied units or summons. It also makes Supreme+ more valuable in optimized summon compositions than in generic teams.

Is EX +5 Enough?

EX +5 improves the value of every Growth stack, but it does not solve Lamentis's main limitations.

Apostles still expire, Six Eyes remains locked, and Lamentis still needs to repeatedly spend HP to summon them. EX +5 is acceptable while gathering resources, but it should not be treated as the finished build.

Should You Stop at EX +10?

EX +10 increases the basic stat gain from each Growth stack to 6%.

At the maximum 20 stacks, this represents a significant amount of scaling. However, the upgrade remains primarily numerical. Lamentis still lacks permanent Apostles and the additional true damage from Six Eyes.

EX +10 is a reasonable temporary stopping point, but players committed to using Lamentis should continue toward EX +15.

Why EX +15 Is the Best Breakpoint

EX +15 completes Lamentis's intended gameplay loop.

Once Six Eyes opens:

  • Apostle generation no longer consumes HP.

  • Apostles no longer disappear after 12 seconds.

  • The battlefield can remain filled with up to six Apostles.

  • Starcrusher gains additional true damage.

  • Apostle damage continuously heals Lamentis.

  • Apostle Energy generation contributes to Lamentis's next Ultimate.

These changes affect damage, survivability, Energy generation, summon uptime, and resource efficiency simultaneously. No earlier EX level provides a comparable transformation.

Is EX +20 Worth It?

EX +20 grants 15 Penetration and 15 Haste for five seconds at the start of a Rivalry Mode battle and after Lamentis assists with or defeats an enemy.

This is a PvP-specific enhancement.

Dream Realm and general PvE players can normally stop at EX +15. Supreme Arena specialists and high-spending players may consider EX +20 after finishing the rest of the team.

For reference, upgrading a hero from EX +11 to EX +15 requires a substantial Temporal Essence investment. The broader material requirements can be reviewed in Prydwen's AFK Journey Exclusive Weapon priority guide.

Lamentis Investment Priority

The recommended upgrade order is:

  1. Reach Legendary+ to unlock Hero Focus.

  2. Reach Mythic+ to unlock Omnisight.

  3. Upgrade the EX Weapon to +10.

  4. Continue immediately toward EX +15.

  5. Upgrade Hero Focus to Level 3.

  6. Reach Supreme+ for Enhance Force if using a buff-heavy summon team.

  7. Consider EX +20 only for competitive Rivalry Mode content.

Minimum Test Build

Use this investment level only to evaluate the character:

  • Mythic+

  • EX +10

  • Hero Focus Level 2 or 3

This version can generate Growth and gain considerable basic stats, but it does not represent Lamentis's full performance.

The recommended general target is:

  • Mythic+

  • EX +15

  • Hero Focus Level 3

This unlocks the complete Six Eyes mechanic without requiring maximum ascension.

Competitive Build

For serious Dream Realm or PvP usage, aim for:

  • Supreme+

  • EX +15

  • Hero Focus Level 3

  • High-level seasonal Charms

  • A fully invested support lineup

Maximum PvP Build

High-ranking Rivalry Mode players can consider:

  • Supreme+ or Paragon

  • EX +20 or higher

  • Hero Focus Level 3

  • Optimized seasonal Charms

  • Dedicated protection and buff supports

Do not rush EX +20 before completing EX +15, Hero Focus Level 3, and the essential investments of Lamentis's teammates.

Best Stats and Charms for Lamentis

Lamentis's most important combat priority is Attack Speed.

Attack Speed accelerates several mechanics at once:

  • Apostle normal attacks.

  • Growth generation.

  • Starcrusher activation.

  • Six Eyes activation.

  • Post-Six Eyes true damage output.

  • Energy generation through permanent Apostles.

For Dream Realm and boss content:

Attack Speed > offensive damage stats > boss-specific damage bonuses > survivability

For Supreme Arena:

Attack Speed > Haste or Penetration > survivability > offensive damage stats

For general PvE:

Attack Speed > ATK-related stats > survivability

Because Charms change between seasons, avoid permanently copying an outdated set. Select current-season Charms that increase Attack Speed, effective damage, summon uptime, or survival during the initial Growth phase.

Best Artifacts for Lamentis

Resonance Crystal

Resonance Crystal is a natural option when Lamentis needs more Attack Speed.

Accelerating normal attacks helps both Lamentis and the Apostles trigger Starcrusher and generate Growth. This is particularly valuable when the team struggles to activate Six Eyes quickly enough.

Blazing Sail

Blazing Sail can be considered for sustained offensive pressure.

It is more suitable when Lamentis already has sufficient Attack Speed from teammates and needs stronger damage throughout a longer fight.

Starshard Spell

Starshard Spell can complement teams built around Magic damage.

However, the best Artifact is not determined by Lamentis alone. Team composition, boss mechanics, seasonal bonuses, and the amount of existing Attack Speed should all influence the final choice.

Best Lamentis Teams

Lamentis teams should provide at least two of the following:

  • Protection during the Growth phase.

  • Attack Speed or Haste.

  • Summon-related synergy.

  • Healing or damage reduction.

  • Boss-specific debuffs.

Use existing roster to support the ramp-up cycle

These should be treated as team frameworks rather than permanent best-in-slot answers. Dream Realm bosses require different debuffs, survival tools, and damage types.

Best Lamentis Dream Realm Team

A promising early summon composition is:

  • Lamentis

  • Aurora

  • Florabelle

  • Solise

  • Callan

Lamentis

Lamentis acts as the primary scaling damage dealer. The team's goal is to keep Lamentis and the Apostles active long enough to reach 20 Growth stacks.

Aurora

Aurora contributes to the summon-oriented structure while adding sustained pressure. Aurora is one of the most natural partners for teams designed around multiple summoned units.

Florabelle

Florabelle adds additional summons and reinforces the team's sustained battlefield presence.

However, using Florabelle is not mandatory for every boss. She should be replaced when a boss-specific debuffer or damage amplifier produces a higher score.

Solise

Solise provides sustain for a composition that needs time to reach full power.

Longer survival gives the Apostles more opportunities to attack, generate Growth, and merge safely before Six Eyes activates.

Callan

Callan provides utility and debuffs that can support the team's extended damage window.

The exact fifth slot may change significantly depending on the Dream Realm boss. Prioritize the debuffer or support that interacts most effectively with the current boss's defenses and mechanics.

Attack Speed Lamentis Boss Team

A more flexible boss template is:

  • Lamentis

  • Lyca

  • Attack Speed or Haste support

  • Boss-specific debuffer

  • Healer or defensive support

Lyca is valuable because additional Attack Speed improves nearly every part of Lamentis's kit.

This template may outperform a full summon team when a particular boss rewards faster activation, needs a specialized debuff, or punishes multiple summoned units.

Lamentis Summoner Team

A general summon team can use:

  • Lamentis

  • Aurora

  • Florabelle

  • Tank or protector

  • Healer or offensive support

This composition places several additional units on the battlefield and can create sustained pressure over a long fight.

Its main weaknesses are high investment requirements and slow activation. It may also struggle against enemies with powerful area damage that clears Apostles or secondary summons.

Best Lamentis Supreme Arena Team

A Supreme Arena framework is:

  • Lamentis

  • Alna or Gunnar

  • Aurora or Florabelle

  • Healer or defensive support

  • Control or buff support

Alna and Gunnar can help a hypercarry survive long enough to establish its win condition. Their purpose in a Lamentis team is not simply to absorb damage, but to prevent the battle from ending before Six Eyes becomes active.

PvP teams should be adjusted based on the opposing formation. Lamentis can struggle against:

  • Backline assassins.

  • Fast opening burst.

  • Displacement effects.

  • Heavy crowd control.

  • Area damage capable of clearing Apostles.

EX +20 is more relevant here because the Rivalry Mode Penetration and Haste bonuses can improve Lamentis's opening tempo.

Budget Lamentis Team

Lamentis is already an expensive Hypogean, so a budget team should focus on using heroes the account has already developed.

Use the following structure:

  • Lamentis as the main carry.

  • Your most durable available tank.

  • A reliable healer.

  • An Attack Speed or Haste support.

  • A boss-specific debuffer or control hero.

Do not force Aurora, Florabelle, Alna, or Gunnar into the team if those heroes are underinvested. A well-built general support is often more useful than a theoretically perfect teammate at low ascension.

Lamentis Positioning Tips

Keep Lamentis Away From Early Pressure

Lamentis has a seven-tile attack range and should normally be placed in a protected backline position.

Avoid placing Lamentis directly opposite enemy assassins, opening divers, or displacement effects.

Protect the Apostles

Apostle survival is part of Lamentis's damage engine.

Before EX +15, an Apostle must survive its full duration to merge back and transfer Growth. Losing Apostles early delays Six Eyes and removes potential healing.

Build Around the Ramp-Up Period

The most dangerous part of a Lamentis battle is the opening period before maximum Growth.

Use tanks, healing, crowd control, and defensive buffs to extend the fight. Once permanent Apostles fill the battlefield, Lamentis becomes much harder to stop.

Do Not Treat Lamentis as a Burst Carry

Lamentis is not designed to instantly eliminate an enemy at the beginning of combat.

The character's power grows through repeated Apostle attacks, Growth transfers, Attack Speed buffs, and the eventual Six Eyes transformation.

Teams that require immediate burst may be better served by another carry.

Time Malevolent Gaze Carefully

In manual content, wait until several Apostles are active before casting Malevolent Gaze.

More Apostles can mean more stunned targets. The subsequent 60 Attack Speed bonus also becomes more valuable when several Apostles are ready to attack.

Lamentis Performance by Game Mode

Dream Realm

Dream Realm is one of Lamentis's most natural modes because the longer battle duration provides time to reach maximum Growth.

Lamentis can repeatedly trigger percentage-based Starcrusher damage before activating additional true damage at EX +15.

Performance will still vary by boss. Encounters that remove summons, interrupt normal attacks, or require specialized mechanics may reduce Lamentis's value.

Supreme Arena

Lamentis has a high theoretical ceiling in Supreme Arena but requires substantial protection.

If the opposing team eliminates Lamentis before Six Eyes activates, the composition loses its primary win condition. This makes positioning and defensive support more important than maximizing raw damage.

AFK Stages

Lamentis can generate significant battlefield pressure in longer AFK Stage fights, but the slow ramp makes the character less universally reliable.

Short battles, aggressive enemy formations, and high-deficit opening damage may prevent the full mechanic from activating.

Use Lamentis selectively rather than assuming the character will replace established AFK Stage carries.

Primal Lord and Other Boss Content

Lamentis is generally more attractive when:

  • The battle lasts long enough to reach 20 Growth stacks.

  • Apostles can attack continuously.

  • The boss does not frequently eliminate summons.

  • The team can survive without sacrificing essential damage amplification.

Always compare the actual score against existing boss teams rather than assuming Lamentis is automatically superior.

Common Lamentis Build Mistakes

Stopping Permanently at EX +10

EX +10 improves Growth, but the defining Six Eyes effect remains locked.

Players planning to use Lamentis seriously should budget for EX +15 before beginning the investment.

Upgrading to EX +20 Too Early

EX +20 primarily benefits Rivalry Mode.

For most players, completing Hero Focus Level 3, supporting heroes, and seasonal systems will provide more value than immediately pushing past EX +15.

Ignoring Attack Speed

Attack Speed is not merely another offensive stat for Lamentis.

It controls Growth generation, Starcrusher frequency, Six Eyes activation speed, and permanent Apostle output.

Using the Same Team Against Every Boss

Dream Realm teams should be adapted to the active boss.

Replace generic summon partners when a specialized debuffer, healer, or damage amplifier creates a better result.

Allowing Apostles to Die Before Merging

Before EX +15, dead Apostles cannot complete their normal merge cycle.

Protecting Apostles helps preserve Growth transfers, healing, and overall damage uptime.

Pulling Without Planning the Full Investment

Obtaining Lamentis without enough resources for Mythic+ and EX +15 may leave the character incomplete.

Review your Stellar Crystal supply, Temporal Essence inventory, and existing Celestial/Hypogean priorities before committing.

Players who need additional Dragon Crystals or premium packages can review the AFK Journey top-up options on Topuplist or read the AFK Journey Dragon Crystals recharge guide.

Lamentis Investment Recommendations by Player Type

F2P Players

Build Lamentis only if:

  • Your essential Celestial and Hypogean projects are already complete.

  • You have enough resources to reach EX +15.

  • Dream Realm performance is one of your main priorities.

  • You already own suitable protection and support heroes.

Otherwise, waiting for more long-term testing is reasonable.

Low Spenders

Lamentis becomes more attractive when Mythic+ and EX +15 are realistically achievable.

Before investing, confirm that your account also has a functional team. A powerful carry without protection, Attack Speed support, or sustain may not deliver the expected results.

Competitive Dream Realm Players

Competitive boss players should monitor Lamentis closely.

Percentage-based damage, multiple Starcrusher users, permanent Apostles, and true damage create a strong long-fight package. However, the optimal composition may differ substantially between bosses.

Competitive PvP Players

Supreme Arena players can consider Supreme+ and EX +20 after confirming that Lamentis fits an existing protected-carry composition.

Do not judge PvP performance only from offensive battles. Test how easily enemy teams can disrupt Lamentis before maximum Growth is reached.

Lamentis Build FAQ

Is Lamentis good in AFK Journey?

Lamentis is a strong scaling damage dealer designed for long battles. The character is most promising in Dream Realm and other boss content but needs time and protection before reaching full power.

What is the best EX Weapon level for Lamentis?

EX +15 is the recommended stopping point. It unlocks Six Eyes, permanent Apostles, free Apostle generation, additional true damage, healing, and Energy recovery.

Is Lamentis EX +20 worth it?

EX +20 is mainly worthwhile for competitive Rivalry Mode players. General PvE and Dream Realm players can normally stop at EX +15.

Can Lamentis work at Mythic+?

Yes. Mythic+ unlocks Omnisight and allows Growth generation. However, Lamentis does not gain the complete Six Eyes transformation until EX +15.

What is the best Lamentis team?

An early Dream Realm composition uses Lamentis, Aurora, Florabelle, Solise, and Callan. The best lineup may change by boss, so summon partners should be replaced when specialized supports produce better results.

What stats does Lamentis need?

Attack Speed is the most important general priority. It accelerates Growth, Starcrusher, Six Eyes activation, and Apostle output.

Does Lamentis need Supreme+?

Supreme+ is useful because it allows Lamentis to inherit part of the allied stat buffs applied to Apostles. However, EX +15 should generally be prioritized before Supreme+.

Is Lamentis good for F2P players?

Lamentis is not a low-cost F2P hero. The character needs multiple copies and substantial EX Weapon materials to reach the recommended build.

Is Lamentis better in PvE or PvP?

Lamentis is easier to use in long PvE boss battles. PvP offers a high ceiling, but the character needs strong protection to survive the initial ramp-up period.

Final Verdict: How Far Should You Build Lamentis?

Lamentis is one of AFK Journey's most investment-dependent summon carries.

The character's complete gameplay loop requires Apostles to attack, generate Growth, merge, and eventually activate Six Eyes. Once that transformation occurs, Lamentis gains permanent Apostles, sustained healing, additional Energy, and repeated true damage through Starcrusher.

The recommended build target is:

  • Mythic+

  • EX +15

  • Hero Focus Level 3

Supreme+ is valuable for optimized buff and summon teams, while EX +20 is primarily a PvP luxury.

Players who cannot reach EX +15 should be cautious about investing. Those who can complete the build and already own suitable supports may gain a powerful long-fight carry for Dream Realm, boss content, and protected Supreme Arena compositions.
