Freya arrived in Magic Chess: Go Go on July 15, 2026 as a new Combat-type Commander. Unlike Commanders tied to one specific team, Freya can enhance a selected Role Synergy and switch the enhanced Role during the match.
That flexibility makes her suitable for Weapon Master, Marksman, Bruiser and other damage-focused teams. However, Freya is not completely automatic. Players must understand her 2-, 4- and 6-count rewards, choose the correct Role to enhance and avoid forcing a lineup that the shop is not offering.
The official Freya Commander spotlight confirms that she can enhance any Role Synergy and change the enhanced Synergy during a match. This guide explains how her skills work, the strongest lineup options and how to use her rewards efficiently.
Is Freya Good in Magic Chess Go Go?
Freya is a strong and flexible Commander, especially after her second skill is unlocked. She combines additional Synergy power with free Heroes, Gold and Equipment rewards.
Her main advantages are:
She works with multiple Role Synergies.
She provides useful rewards at 2, 4 and 6 Synergy counts.
Free Heroes reduce the Gold needed to upgrade key units.
She can change her enhanced Role when the match develops differently than expected.
Her Equipment rewards help a main carry reach full power earlier.
Her weaknesses are equally important:
Freya does not automatically fix a weak board.
Reaching 6 Synergy can require Blessings or favorable Go Go Cards.
Selecting the wrong Role wastes much of her advantage.
She is less effective when players force a contested lineup.
The one-star version offers less value than the upgraded version with Contract of Faith.
The short answer is that Freya is worth using if you prefer flexible combat-focused teams and understand when to pivot. She is less suitable for players who want to copy one lineup and force it every match.
Freya Commander Skills Explained
Freya’s gameplay revolves around selecting a Role Synergy, reaching its breakpoints and collecting the related rewards. Remember that Role Synergies and Faction Synergies are different. Freya can strengthen roles such as Weapon Master, Marksman or Bruiser, but she does not directly enhance a faction such as Enchanted Tales or Mystic Meow.
Power of Einherjar
Power of Einherjar is Freya’s one-star active skill. It lets her select a Role Synergy to enhance, strengthening the effect of that Role. The selected Role can be changed during the match, allowing Freya to follow the units, Blessings and Equipment offered by the game.
The selected Synergy also grants additional rewards when it reaches its 2-, 4- and 6-count breakpoints.
Contract of Faith
Contract of Faith is Freya’s two-star skill. When the currently enhanced Role reaches the required count, Freya receives two random Heroes belonging to that Role.
The combined value of those Heroes increases at higher Synergy counts. This can provide key copies of expensive units and reduce the amount of Gold needed for shop refreshes.
These are breakpoint rewards, not a system that can be farmed repeatedly by switching between Roles. Treat each reward as a one-time power spike and use it to improve the actual board rather than chasing another Synergy number.
Because Commander and Synergy balance may change, check the current in-game description after major updates. The official Magic Chess: Go Go page and official Google Play listing are useful sources for current game and update information.
How to Use Freya’s Skills Correctly
Early Game: Reach an Easy 2-Count Role
Do not decide your final lineup before seeing the opening shop. Start with whichever useful damage or frontline Role reaches 2-count naturally.
Weapon Master, Marksman, Bruiser and Dauntless are all possible starts. The important goal is to activate a functional board and collect Freya’s first reward without spending too much Gold.
The 5 Gold reward can be used in two ways:
Save it to reach or maintain the 20-Gold interest threshold.
Spend it on Commander EXP when one level immediately adds a valuable unit.
Do not use all the reward on random shop refreshes unless your HP is already under pressure.
Mid Game: Build Around the 4-Count Reward
The 4-count breakpoint is Freya’s most reliable mid-game power spike. The Equipment Chest can complete a two- or three-item carry, while Contract of Faith can provide additional copies of Role Heroes.
At this stage, ask three questions:
Which Role is already closest to 4-count?
Which high-cost Hero has the best upgrade progress?
Are other players contesting the same units?
If the shop gives Alpha, Leomord and useful Weapon Master support, continue toward Weapon Master. If it provides Karrie, Irithel and a durable Dauntless frontline, Marksman may be the better route.
Late Game: Do Not Force 6-Count
The 6-count reward is powerful, but it should not come at the cost of fielding weak units. A high-quality 4-count Role with upgraded carries can defeat a forced 6-count board full of one-star Heroes.
Push to 6-count when:
You already have the required core Heroes.
A Synergy Blessing or Go Go Card makes the breakpoint realistic.
Your main carry is at least two stars.
You can reach the breakpoint without removing essential frontline or control units.
Otherwise, keep the enhanced Role at 4-count and add stronger faction, defense or utility Synergies.
Best Synergies for Freya
Freya works best with Roles that gain meaningful offensive or sustain benefits from her enhancement.
Weapon Master
Weapon Master is one of Freya’s best targets because it provides both damage and sustain. Weapon Master Heroes recover HP when attacking, while excess healing can become a shield. Freya’s Equipment rewards also help the frontline carry survive long enough to benefit from that sustain.
The Role becomes especially threatening when paired with Enchanted Tales and a Protagonist Leomord.
Marksman
Marksman is the safest option when the shop provides a strong ranged carry. Freya enhances its damage output while Contract of Faith can provide additional Marksman copies.
The weakness is frontline dependence. Six Marksmen will not help if the enemy reaches Karrie before she begins attacking. Dauntless or Defender units are therefore essential.
Bruiser
Bruiser provides physical damage and enough durability to survive extended fights. It also offers several possible faction pairings, including Emberlord, Dragoncaller and Exorcist.
This flexibility makes Bruiser an effective pivot when Weapon Master units are heavily contested.
Dauntless
Dauntless is not usually the primary damage source, but it creates a safe frontline for Marksman teams. If the backline already has enough damage and the frontline collapses too quickly, temporarily enhancing Dauntless can be more valuable than adding more Marksman damage.
Best Freya Lineups
The following teams should be treated as lineup cores rather than mandatory nine-Hero lists. Available Blessings, Go Go Cards, the Enchanted Tales Protagonist and the current shop must determine the final slots.
Best Freya Lineup 1: Weapon Master + Enchanted Tales
This is Freya’s highest-ceiling lineup when Leomord becomes the Enchanted Tales Protagonist.
Enchanted Tales includes Belerick, Selena, Vexana and Leomord. The faction selects a Protagonist and lets its Heroes build additional damage through Tale Fragments. The official Enchanted Tales guide specifically recommends Weapon Master when Leomord is selected.
Early Game
Start with any strong two-Role board. Weapon Master, Dauntless and Bruiser are all acceptable temporary choices. Preserve HP and avoid buying every Enchanted Tales unit before you know the Protagonist.
If Leomord becomes the Protagonist, begin planning around Weapon Master. If Vexana or another Hero receives the enhancement, consider building around that Hero’s Role instead.
Mid Game
Add Franco, Leomord and Alpha as the natural Weapon Master core. Belerick, Selena and Vexana complete the Enchanted Tales side of the lineup.
Aim for 4 Weapon Master first. Use Freya’s free Role Heroes to upgrade Alpha or Leomord and give the Equipment Chest to whichever unit has better star progress.
Recommended Equipment direction:
Leomord: War Axe, Winter Crown and Oracle for a durable frontline build.
Alpha: physical damage, attack speed and sustain Equipment.
Vexana: Holy Crystal, Ice Queen Wand and Glowing Wand if she becomes the main magic carry.
Belerick or Franco: defensive Equipment, anti-heal and crowd-control support.
Late Game
The ideal ceiling is 6 Weapon Master and 4 Enchanted Tales, but reaching it usually depends on Blessings or additional Synergy support. Do not remove strong upgraded units merely to display the 6-count icon.
Place Leomord or Alpha in the first or second row, depending on enemy burst. Keep Vexana away from Swiftblade or other backline threats.
Best Freya Lineup 2: Marksman + Dauntless
Marksman and Dauntless offer the most straightforward Freya lineup. The Marksmen deal sustained damage while Dauntless units absorb pressure through their shields and durability.
An official 6-Marksman and 4-Dauntless lineup recommends Karrie as the main carry and Ruby as the main tank.
Core Heroes
Use Karrie, Irithel and Lesley as the main Marksman group. Silvanna, Franco, Esmeralda and Ruby form the Dauntless frontline. Additional Marksman counts may require Blessings or other Synergy effects.
Equipment
The official lineup recommends:
Karrie: Demon Hunter Sword, Golden Staff and Winter Crown.
Ruby: Dominance Ice, Antique Cuirass and Oracle.
Karrie should receive the main damage Equipment first. Irithel can hold remaining physical items as a secondary carry.
Economy and Positioning
Maintain 20 Gold when possible and use a strong temporary board or Scavenger units to reach Lv.9. Do not repeatedly refresh at a low Commander level for an expensive Karrie.
Place Ruby and Esmeralda in the front. Keep Karrie in the back corner, but change sides when an enemy Swiftblade or backline attacker is targeting her. Spread Marksmen slightly against large-area crowd control.
Best Freya Lineup 3: Bruiser + Emberlord
Bruiser and Emberlord are a flexible alternative when Weapon Master and Marksman units are contested.
Bruiser supplies direct physical pressure, while Emberlord makes surviving units stronger as allies fall. Masha and Badang are practical carry options, with Yu Zhong helping complete the stronger late-game Bruiser structure.
How to Play It
Activate 2 Bruiser and 2 Emberlord early if the shop provides a natural transition. Build toward 4 Bruiser during the mid game and use Freya’s 4-count rewards to finish the main carry’s Equipment.
Enhance Bruiser when it is your most developed Role. Do not select Emberlord through Freya simply because it is part of the lineup—Emberlord is a faction, while Freya enhances Role Synergies.
Push to higher Emberlord counts only if the relevant Heroes are upgraded. Its bonuses are much less useful when the final surviving carry remains at one star.
Best Go Go Cards for Freya
The official Freya introduction recommends several Commander Power Cards:
Alice’s Power
Kagura’s Power
Zilong’s Power
These choices support a main-carry strategy, but the best selection still depends on your current Hero, Equipment and lineup.
Recommended Combat Go Go Cards include:
Purest Power: useful when your active Synergy structure satisfies its condition and concentrates power into fewer Synergies.
Breath of Berserk: strong for Weapon Master and Bruiser teams that survive extended battles.
Thickened Blood: valuable for durable lineups that become stronger after the opening seconds of combat.
Always read the current card description before choosing it. Go Go Card values and conditions can change between balance updates.
Equipment Priority for Freya
Freya’s Equipment rewards are valuable only when they are concentrated on the correct units.
Follow this priority:
Complete the main carry’s core Equipment.
Give defensive Equipment to the main tank.
Add anti-heal when facing Weapon Master, Bruiser or healing-heavy teams.
Equip a secondary carry only after the main carry has three useful items.
Do not divide six strong items evenly between three one-star damage dealers. A fully equipped two-star Karrie, Leomord or Alpha is normally more reliable.
Common Freya Mistakes
Forcing One Role from the First Round
Freya is designed to be flexible. If three players are already buying Weapon Master Heroes, change to Marksman or Bruiser instead of exhausting your Gold.
Confusing Roles and Factions
Freya can enhance Weapon Master, Marksman, Bruiser or Dauntless. She cannot directly enhance Enchanted Tales, Mystic Meow or Emberlord because these are faction-based Synergies.
Chasing 6-Count at Any Cost
A balanced 4-count lineup with upgraded Heroes, a real frontline and useful control is often stronger than a weak 6-count lineup.
Switching the Enhanced Role Too Often
Freya can switch Roles, but that does not mean she should change every round. Switch only when your final carry, strongest active Role or available Blessing changes.
Ignoring Positioning
Freya improves numbers, not positioning. Scout enemy boards and move your carry away from Swiftblade units, crowd control and concentrated burst damage.
How to Counter Freya
Freya teams can be difficult to outlast, but they have clear weaknesses.
Against Weapon Master, use anti-heal and burst damage before its sustain becomes overwhelming. Against Marksman, target the backline with Swiftblade units or displacement effects. Against Bruiser, spread the board and prevent the enemy carry from freely attacking one frontline target.
Freya also becomes weaker when her preferred units are contested. Holding important Karrie, Leomord or Alpha copies can delay her upgrades, although you should not damage your own economy solely to deny another player.
Is Freya Worth Unlocking and Upgrading?
Freya is worth considering for players who frequently use physical damage teams and enjoy adapting to the shop. Her one-star skill already provides Role enhancement and useful breakpoint rewards, but Contract of Faith makes the upgraded version significantly more consistent.
She is especially valuable if you regularly play:
Weapon Master
Marksman
Bruiser
Dauntless-based frontline teams
Flexible multi-Synergy lineups
Freya is less essential if you mainly play economy Commanders or highly specialized faction strategies that do not depend on one strong Role.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best Synergy for Freya?
Weapon Master is her highest-ceiling Role when paired with a Protagonist Leomord and Enchanted Tales. Marksman with Dauntless is the safer and more consistent alternative.
Can Freya switch her enhanced Synergy?
Yes. Freya can switch the enhanced Role Synergy during a match. However, switching does not create unlimited copies of the breakpoint rewards.
Can Freya enhance Enchanted Tales or Mystic Meow?
No. Those are Faction Synergies. Freya directly enhances Role Synergies such as Weapon Master, Marksman, Bruiser and Dauntless.
Is one-star Freya usable?
Yes. Power of Einherjar already provides Synergy enhancement and milestone rewards. Two-star Freya is stronger because Contract of Faith adds free Role Heroes at the 2-, 4- and 6-count breakpoints.
What is the best Go Go Card for Freya?
Alice’s Power, Kagura’s Power and Zilong’s Power are official Commander Power recommendations. Purest Power, Breath of Berserk and Thickened Blood are useful Combat Card options.
Should Freya always reach 6 Synergy?
No. Stay at 4-count when reaching 6 would require weak units, excessive refreshes or the removal of important frontline and control Heroes.
Final Verdict
Freya is a flexible Combat Commander with a simple concept but a high strategic ceiling. Her greatest strength is not forcing one overpowered lineup—it is turning whichever strong Role the match gives you into a better version of itself.
Weapon Master with Enchanted Tales offers the highest upside when Leomord is the Protagonist. Marksman with Dauntless is easier to build and more reliable for ranked matches, while Bruiser and Emberlord provide a useful pivot when the main units are contested.
Reach the 2-count reward efficiently, use the 4-count Equipment spike to stabilize and chase 6-count only when the shop and Blessings support it. If you need Diamonds for Commanders, skins or Go Go Pass content, visit the Magic Chess: Go Go top-up page on Topuplist.
