Season 5: Moonlit Elegy is the biggest structural update Last Z: Survival Shooter has ever shipped. It replaces the season map with a gothic, vampire-themed moonlit world, resets every city to neutral for a fresh land rush, groups your state with three others in a new 4-State system, overhauls Glory War scoring, and — most importantly — introduces the red-star hero system that raises the hero ceiling from 5 stars to 10. This guide is the single entry point for the whole season: the theme, the hero system, every night event, the Witch, the Moonlight Cards, and the rewards that make it all worth doing.
What Is Season 5: Moonlit Elegy?
Every season in Last Z resets the map and introduces new seasonal mechanics. Season 4 brought dinosaurs, Glory Wars and the Hatch of Legends. Season 5: Moonlit Elegy shifts to a darker, gothic moonlit atmosphere and changes the fundamental progression ceiling of the game. The season began rolling out from May 20, 2026 (servers 1–64 first), with later state groups joining through staggered migration waves. From the start, all servers begin on level ground — seasonal cities return to neutral ownership and every alliance expands from scratch.
The Vampire-Themed Season
The vampire-werewolf theme is not a simple reskin. The gothic makeover covers cities and buildings across the whole map, and it carries new mechanics with it:
Full map reset: every city goes neutral at season start; the early land rush is back, and alliances that fall behind in the first week struggle to recover.
The 4-State System: your state is grouped with three others for the full season, shifting the game toward longer rivalries and more deliberate alliance strategy.
Glory War overhaul: a winning battle now steals 20% of the enemy's points outright (25% in the final round), so a single late-season victory can flip the entire ranking.
Season buildings: new structures like the Serum Lab and Shadow Spring grant strong seasonal buffs and gate progression in the night events.
The season's events all live under this moonlit identity: Night Falls, Night Ritual, Seal the Countess and Witcher's Requests.
Red Stars: The Beyond-5-Star System
The headline feature is the expansion of hero development. Until now, 5 stars was the cap; Season 5 tears that ceiling off with a 10-star track.
Phase | Stars | Material |
Standard upgrade | 1–5 | Universal Hero Fragments (S) |
Red Star Awakening | 6–10 | SS Hero Fragments |
The two phases use completely different materials. Stars 1–5 work exactly as before with the standard orange Universal Hero Fragments. Stars 6–10 are the new territory and require SS Hero Fragments — a Season 5-specific resource that is harder to obtain and the primary new bottleneck of the season. Reaching 5 stars is the hard gate: if your key heroes are not at 5 stars, that is your first priority before any red-star content.
Each red star unlocks a different category of power rather than a flat stat bump: 6-star adds skill enhancements, 7-star raises base stats and attributes, 8-star boosts skill effectiveness, 9-star adds stronger passives, and 10-star delivers a massive burst that raises POWER, ATK, DEF and Troop Cap simultaneously — the only tier that upgrades all four core stats at once. The three Season 5 red-star heroes are Evelyn, Oliveira and Scarlett, and their full red-star skill boosts are listed in the Season 5 Moonlit Elegy wiki.
Night Falls: Schedule, Enemies and Ranking
Night Falls is Season 5's signature daily event. Night Succubi appear on the World Map at 00:00, 08:00 and 16:00 Apocalypse Time each day. Each occurrence lasts at least one hour — and the duration extends by one hour every week, until the world enters a state of endless night by Week 8.
Werewolves cost 8 Fuel per attempt and are the efficient early target while your Serum Lab is still developing.
Succubi / Knight Succubi cost 16 Fuel and drop more Shadow Blood Crystals, but need a developed Serum Lab's Virus Resistance to fight reliably.
Ranking rule: only the player who launches the rally and lands the final blow on a Night Succubus gets ranking credit. Joiners get combat rewards but no leaderboard credit. Ties are broken by whoever killed earlier; rankings settle weekly and rewards are mailed the following Monday. The milestone rewards are:
Milestone | Moon Tokens | Power Cores | Moonlight Vouchers |
Launch 10 rallies & win | 50 | 10 | 2 |
Launch 30 rallies & win | 100 | 10 | 4 |
Launch 50 rallies & win | 150 | 15 | 6 |
Launch or Join 20 rallies & win | 75 | 15 | 1 |
Launch or Join 50 rallies & win | 150 | 20 | 2 |
Launch or Join 80 rallies & win | 200 | 20 | 3 |
The "Launch or Join" tiers are far more achievable for casual players, since they do not require securing the killing blow. The full strategy breakdown is available in the Night Falls event guide.
Night Ritual and Seal the Countess
Two alternating events structure the week:
Night Ritual (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 50 minutes): Night Altars randomly appear across the map; destroy them to collect rewards. This event is straightforward and low-risk — good for daily participation.
Seal the Countess (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, 50 minutes): Night Countesses appear in cities, cursing them and weakening their buffs. Alliance members must band together to take the Countess down and lift the curse.
Both are short, timed windows, so syncing with the Apocalypse Time clock is the difference between catching them and missing them entirely.
Witcher's Requests
When night falls each day, Witcher Camps appear on the World Map. Players can accept and complete requests there for rewards. The event is the daily flexible-fill content of the season — it does not demand a fixed time the way Night Ritual and Seal the Countess do, so it is the natural activity for players who can only log in once or twice a day.
Mysterious Witch Progression
The Mysterious Witch is one of the season's primary progression mechanics. You deliver Demon Stone to raise your Witch Affection Level, and each level unlocks new seasonal gifts and stronger progress. The value of ascending is cumulative: higher Witch levels open better rewards from season enemies and missions, and several connected systems become more efficient the higher your Witch level is. The consistent advice is to invest in the Witch throughout the season rather than hoarding Demon Stone — players who level the Witch early unlock seasonal content sooner and complete objectives faster.
Moonlight Card Collection
The Moonlight Card Collection is the season's collectible progression layer. Cards are earned from account achievements, killing special monsters and temporary events. Each card provides attribute boosts for that soldier type, and higher-level cards are clearly more effective; collecting duplicate cards upgrades their effectiveness further. The system is not simple collection-fluff — it functions as another layer of seasonal progression that improves combat performance across both PvE and PvP, making consistent weekly participation worthwhile.
Season Rewards and Currencies
Season 5 introduced a new currency set that anchors most of its rewards:
Moon Tokens — earned from Night Falls milestones and seasonal activities; spent in the seasonal exchange.
Power Cores — equipment-upgrade currency, also used in Alliance Duel's Hero Initiative day.
Moonlight Vouchers — the season's premium reward ticket, used for seasonal exchanges.
Shadow Blood Crystals — dropped by Night Falls enemies, tied to Serum Lab progression.
SS Hero Fragments — the season's bottleneck material for red-star awakenings.
The season progression tree, seasonal tasks and the seasonal shop all feed these currencies back into red-star progression, the Witch and the Moonlight Cards — so the season's systems are deliberately looped together rather than isolated events.
F2P and Spending Priorities
For free-to-play players, Season 5 is a patience game:
Red stars: 6-star and 7-star are realistic free targets by mid-season; 8-star is achievable for focused players by the end; 9-star and 10-star are high-investment tiers best left to spenders or players making deliberate full-season sacrifices.
Focus one hero: splitting SS Fragments across heroes means nobody reaches a meaningful red-star threshold. Pick your main-faction hero and reach 7-star before touching anyone else.
Maximize Alliance Duel: it pays badges, diamonds, skill books and hero fragments — and its higher duel tiers are expected to include SS Fragments.
Never upgrade outside event windows: research on Wednesday, training on Friday, and always align big spends with Full Preparedness at 08:00 and 20:00.

Season Tasks and the Season Progression Tree
Moonlit Elegy runs a full seasonal task system that feeds every other mechanic. Daily and weekly season tasks award the season's currencies and progress, and the season progression tree converts that progress into milestone rewards — including the SS Hero Fragments that gate red-star upgrades. The practical pattern is identical to previous seasons: complete the journey objectives efficiently and the free path covers early red-star progress, while the paid track accelerates it.
The three connected systems worth leveling together are the Mysterious Witch (deliver Demon Stone for better gifts), the Serum Lab (Virus Resistance for the night events) and the Moonlight Card Collection (attribute cards for soldier types). They are designed to be worked in parallel — a player who levels the Witch but ignores the Serum Lab will stall on Night Falls Succubi, while a player who farms Succubi without the Witch misses the seasonal gifts that make the farming worthwhile.
Common Season 5 Mistakes to Avoid
After a full season of community feedback, the recurring mistakes are consistent:
Spreading SS Fragments across heroes. Five heroes at 6-star beat nobody — one hero at 7-star changes your whole army. Concentration is the entire strategy.
Joining Night Falls rallies instead of launching them. Joiners get loot but no ranking credit; if leaderboard rewards matter, be the one pressing Launch.
Wasting fuel on Succubi before the Serum Lab is ready. A 16-Fuel attempt lost to an underdeveloped Virus Resistance is fuel thrown away — farm Werewolves (8 Fuel) until the lab catches up.
Spending outside Alliance Duel theme days. Off-theme spending earns zero VS points; every speed-up and box has a correct day to spend it.
Ignoring the Full Preparedness overlap. Actions inside the 08:00 and 20:00 windows score double — the single cheapest efficiency gain in the game.
Holding Moon Tokens past the season shop. Seasonal currencies expire; check the exchange deadline before the final week.
Avoid these six and Season 5 stops feeling like a grind and starts feeling like a plan. Load your seasonal packs through the Topuplist Last Z: Survival Shooter top-up page and watch the official Topuplist storefront for weekly recharge deals that match the season's rhythm.
How the Season Currencies Loop
The most useful mental model for Moonlit Elegy is a loop, because every activity feeds the next one:
Night events (Night Falls, Night Ritual, Seal the Countess) produce Moon Tokens, Power Cores, Moonlight Vouchers and Shadow Blood Crystals.
Shadow Blood Crystals upgrade the Serum Lab, which lets you fight stronger Succubi and earn more per window.
Moon Tokens and Moonlight Vouchers feed the Mysterious Witch and the seasonal exchange, which unlock better seasonal gifts.
Season tasks and the progression tree convert all of that activity into milestone rewards, including SS Hero Fragments.
SS Hero Fragments power red-star awakenings, which raise your army's combat power for every subsequent event.
Break any link in the chain and the season slows down — which is why the consistent advice is to participate across all four pillars rather than specializing in one. A player who does a little of everything outpaces a player who only farms Night Falls, because the Witch levels and Moonlight Cards multiply the value of everything else.
FAQ
When did Season 5: Moonlit Elegy start?
It began rolling out May 20, 2026 (servers 1–64 first), with later state groups joining in staggered migration waves through June and July.
What is the red-star system?
It extends hero progression from 5 stars to 10. Stars 6–10 use SS Hero Fragments, and each red star unlocks a different category of power — skill enhancements, base stats, skill effectiveness, passives and finally the all-core 10-star burst.
How often does Night Falls run?
Three times daily at 00:00, 08:00 and 16:00 Apocalypse Time, with each window at least one hour and growing weekly until endless night at Week 8.
Who are the Season 5 red-star heroes?
Evelyn, Oliveira and Scarlett — the three SS heroes eligible for red-star upgrades this season. Their red-star boosts follow the same pattern: +300 and +450 damage factors, +10% troop damage and +50% Potential Unleashed, applied to their own skill kits.
What are the main season currencies?
Moon Tokens, Power Cores, Moonlight Vouchers, Shadow Blood Crystals and SS Hero Fragments — each feeds a specific pillar of the season loop, so none should be ignored.
Is Season 5 worth it for F2P players?
Yes — 6–7 stars are realistic free targets by mid-season and 8-star is reachable by the end, as long as you focus SS Fragments on one main-faction hero. The night events, the Witch and the Moonlight Cards are all fully playable without spending, so the free track covers every system the season introduced.
